This is a great Hawaiian shaved ice place. We tried Gecko Girls on a very hot day. We tried the Lava Flow and the Kona Sunset. The Lava Flow had great strong flavors and had a scoop of coconut ice cream, a great touch. The Kona Sunset has more mild tropical flavors, but also had tasty mochi on the side. The ice was different from other Hawaiian shave ice places. This ice was shaved smaller and felt “smoother”. A must try while in Kona!
Everything we tried was very good. Got the "Rainbow". They pour the syrup a little lighter here than other places but the flavors are really good and go a long way. The macadamia nut ice cream is a must. POG and Blue Hawaii are my personal favorites for flavors. There is also a sand volleyball court outside with a nice area for seating right near the water and surrounded by lots of other great spots.
Service was nice and decently fast, a little overpriced but compared to the other shops worth the money. Probably the best shaved ice I've ever had, lots of selection and customization. Size and quality was good, guava flavor with mochi on top was excellent.
Location is great and the product is plenty tasty, but the wait was rather bad (even if you're on island time). It was a prime time of the night and they only had one person working. Not sure if it's always this way, but it did detract from the experience a bit.
Delicious! Friendly Gecko Girls, excellent quality, the perfect sweet for desert! We had the Lava Flow, and the Macadmaia Nut ice cream and it was fantastic!
This was such a cute spot for a sweet treat! The girl was nice & friendly, also liked her recommendations too! I got a small shave ice with Mango & Blue Hawaiian flavor with a snow cap & macadamia nut crunch ice cream ?,so tasty ?!!!*Bonus- Even got to watch a volleyball tournament while enjoying our dessert!
Staff were pleasant. Flavors good, Did not poke holes in ice, so only a thin layer on top, plain shave ice underneath. Ice cream were small scoops. Would not go back.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I don't even know where to start. I dream of this now that I'm back on the mainland. Their flavors, especially the natural ones, are absolutely incredible. The guava Lychee and lilikoi were unbelievable.I got the Kona sunset and I subbed the vanilla for the mac nut ice cream. Highly recommend it! I also added the lilikoi popper pearls and it was the best touch. They will have a long line but it moves super fast and it is absolutely worth the wait. The girls who work behind the counter are super nice and very patient with the long line of patrons and move really quickly. Their ice cream flavors are also really great!It's super reasonably priced and run by women which I love. They also have a special check-in offer. So for all you yelpers make sure to check in. I'd recommend this place to literally anyone and everyone who is going to the Big Island. This will be my first stop when I get in next time! Obsessed!
