We’ve eaten here 3 times in the last 16 months, including today for lunch, and we like it a lot, especially for airport food. Yes, it’s not cheap, but Maui and airports are rarely cheap. My wife and I both had the Cuban sandwich, and it was very tasty. Good cocktails too.

Pricey so-so food. QC did not work, so old fashioned paper menus needed. Appear to be understaffed. If you can eat elsewhere before arriving at the airport, suggest you do so.

If you’re eating here, it’s probably because the other 4 options closed already. Sammy’s at Kahului Airport provides hard working staff delivering sub optimal meals to the packed tables of weary but shocked diners. Through no fault of the staff, the lighting, design, and layout were a visual panic attack that both shocked and mauled my senses. If the mission is to prevent loitering after your meal, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. When my son’s meal (burger?) arrived, I apologized and suggested he eat rather than grow hungry on the flight. Yes, I laughed at his burger(?). In fairness, Sammy’s is pumping out meals in what appears to be an understaffed airport restaurant. What I can’t overlook, is the artery jamming grease, random sauces, and room decor that stop just shy of an assault. I had no idea ceiling fans could be designed to run in a dual vertical configuration (like an airplane prop…unsettling). The ambient noise added to a frenetic sense that the servers were sprinting between tables. I tipped well for a rough looking meal out of empathy for the hard work by servers. I want to acknowledge the staff while simultaneously recommending that either the restaurant make some changes, or you eat elsewhere.

The service here is horrible with mediocre food and the food is way over priced. we had 40 mins until boarding and waited for the food for 40 mins to be served…sept $80 dollars here getting upset and nervous having to catch a flight. Burger King would have been a wiser choice.

We did not have a good experience at this establishment. But then again, I guess you shouldn't expect to much at an airport restaurant. From the very beginning, things just went downhill. You order at your table, from your phone, by scanning a diagrahm (don't know the proper name). Impossible to ask questions or to customize your order. Oh, but the menu does inform you that you can order through your server. Good luck with that. Couldn't even get one to come to our table. We had two parties at our table. Each needed to order separately. After the first mobile order from the table, you are locked out of placing another order from that same table. Had to get up and run down a server to take the second order. The server acted annoyed. When the food was dropped off , it was literally cold (Moco Loco and a side of fries). Poor Service, Poor Food, High Prices (right at $60 for 2 people). It is very seldom that I don't leave a tip. This is one place that I didn't. My advice; Eat before you get to the airport. If you have to eat at the airport eat somewhere else. Should have followed advice and ate at Burger King.

Over the years with came to this restaurant as a last stop before departing from now in returning home. It was Always OK, but now things have changed dramatically. The waitress was nice and did her very best, The food (ono tacos and shrimp tacos) were cold and served on cold never toasted tortillas… the complement was corn tortillas and small serving of pico the gallo. The avocado creama did not have any avocado in it… just mayonnaise with tiny green specks… Is it me or is it that food prices affect it this restaurant bottom line so bad that they serve such a poor food? On the island there are small local chain of “coconuts”. They do the fish tacos right! Including ripe mango salsa and delish cabbage slaw. C’mom Mr. Hagar you can do it better! The table behind us was unhappy too. Their food arrived completely cold and they were asking waitress to do something about it since she haven’t checked on them…come to think of it she haven’t checked on us either… Coconut fish tacos were $17 per person, Mr. Hagars $20

The food was inedible, stale, and the service was sub par. The worst reserant experiance on Maui. I would avoaid this at OOG.

Took quite some time to get what we had ordered due perhaps to change of staff. Drinks and snack were ok.

The mint sauce was spectacular and please make sure to get that for your topping. The food was good overall and guava juice was refreshing.

I’m taking two stars off of the rating because the service was questionable. We were on a delayed layover at the airport for five hours, so we didn’t really have anywhere to go and we were hungry. So we went to Sammy’s. At 4 o’clock in the afternoon on a Wednesday, the restaurant was virtually empty. After 15 minutes in the booth being ignored, a waitress finally brought someone else’s order to us, and got really snarky when we told her that was not our food and we had not even been greeted yet, and asked her for menus. About five minutes later, the same waitress brought us menus and took our order. The food came out fairly quickly, and was actually pretty darn good. The waitress did not come back and check on us until we were completely done with our meal and did not offer second drinks or dessert or anything. She was fairly pleasant once she took her order and delivered the food, but we didn’t see her other than that. I understand “island time” , different food culture and stuff like that(I’ve been in this business since the 70s, so I’ve seen just about everything in the restaurant business) but… Good service is good service and bad service is bad service. I think the restaurant is not necessarily a bad restaurant, there are just some foundational training problems that need to be addressed. We would be willing to give it a second chance when we are back in Maui later this year.
