Izakaya food is known for being inexpensive and served in a hurry. This restaurant is located on the corner of University Street, but it doesn't really stand out to you when you drive by it like it did to me because I pass it almost every day when I'm in my car. Due to the limited parking, I would advise getting there shortly after it opens.
This place has become one of my favorite restaurants to go out with friends or for dates! This place has been my first experience of trying tsukune, and while I can't compare it to other places yet, in my opinion the flavor is awesome, meat is tender, and they have many flavor/topping options to choose from. While certain items may seem overpriced and smaller in portion, the quality and taste is great and consistent everytime I go, so I think it's worth it if it's a party of 2-3 sharing food. The staff is also very kind! The atmosphere is quite dim lit but very calming. It's a great place to visit if you're looking to wine down and indulge with others. Definitely a hidden gem meant for special occasions!
good service and food was fine! food was served too fast!!! all dishes - salad and as large good did not get to eat 40% salad before hot dishes came out nearly within minutes of each other - especially yakitori sticks - felt pressured to eat fast and not enjoy the sticks- chef should monitor servings speed say 10 minutes between dishes and guests to experience together but only eat fast so hot yakitori do not go cold
I tried different Japanese cuisine here! The taste is very good and service is even better!! Love It!
So I've been going to this restaurant for about 10 years. I use to live in Manoa and always stop in here. I moved closer to Ala Moana and this was still my favorite restaurant. We use to get the room with just 2 ppl. Then I had my child and use to get the room....no problem. It's now 831 pm and I called because we were right by UH. I asked if there was a room available. He said yes, but how many ppl are in your party? I said 3 and he said "ohh we usually keep it open for bigger parties!" I told him I've never had a problem getting a room rather than a table. He told me " ughh I guess I may be able to give it to you if you want!" I said I don't want to force you. What ridiculous is we know someone that works there and we also spend more than a couple hundred to 400 everytime we went and take less than 45 mins. We don't ask for speciL favors. We just eat enjoy the food and drinks and move on.The host needs to learn better phone conversation and if he wants to judge a situation he should be taught better phone etiquette, to at least get the customers in and still have clientele come in. Then if he wanted to be a profiler they over the phone or in person. They may still accept the situation upon arrival.
Excelente atención en un ambiente agradable
Came here for the first time with my dad and it was amazing! Had Tsukune and Curry, Spicy Ahi Roll and a few more. Would very much come again
Chicken tsukune are tasty, various flavors, all recommended. Chicken cartilage, karaage are also good but not impressive. Sashimi is ok but small portion for the price. Chicken kamameshi is disappointing, barely no chicken in it at all, just rice.
A little bit of a lot. Delish.
Very good food. Service was wonderful.
