Since moving to Oahu from Chicago my wife and I were missing her families home cooking. The pasteles were so delicious and gandule rice was also great. We will be returning customers.

Growing up pasteles became my favorite food & as I aged my favorite comfort food. I have so many memories connected to holidays & my grandfather bringing us home pasteles, gandule rice, & bacalao salad. I have never eaten a pastele quite a delicious as the ones made right here at The Pastele Shop.

Lovely service and delicious food. If you go first thing in the morning it takes no time to be served. Was so hungry and it was so tasty I forgot to take pics. Oops!

I have been coming to this shop for over fifty years. I lived in Kalihi in my youth. I now live in California. My mom would come here to buy pasteles even though we would make these as a family. It is labor intensive. I love the pasteles here. Just like my mom's.Gandule rice is almost as good as my mom's. More sofrito and gandules please. My mom would also add black olives and pork. I buy at least two dozen frozen to take home to California

This is not the place for you if you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican cooking. I’d describe the restaurant as a Hawaiian take on Puerto Rican food. The food is like bland cafeteria food. Nothing like real Puerto Rican food. It’s okay; not authentic.

Aloha my people, so I am unsure if you are aware of hawaiis diverse food culture but this place will bring it all together with the flavors of old school and also a traditional dish. One of the hardest things to make is Pastele in my opinion and when I find a great one I me sure to make it a regular place to visit. So please stop by and get a few and let me know what you think.. aunty at the front will be so happy to see you...

Not sure why this pace isn’t rated 5 but it sure does deserve it.I come here once in a good while, I came here today for my favorite, the bacalao salad, A lettuce salad with tomatoes and shredded cod fish and of course their pastele lumpia. So bomb. 11/10.Super fast and super good customer service!

I know I don't speak for everybody, but if this is what good Puerto Rican food taste like, I AM IN LOVE. I have been coming to The Pastele Shop for several yrs now and this little hole in the wall (no disrespect meant) is by far the best hole in the wall on Oahu. The food is outstanding and the service is really fast. There is always at least a couple customers inside whenever I go, but again, the wait is minimal. Not a lot of parking, so just be patient, it's worth it. I always get the mild and spicy (not to spicy) pasteles, gandule rice and stew and bacalao salad (not sure if my spelling is correct, but who cares, the food is AWESOME). And now they open earlier like 9:30 Tues-Sunday till 5pm. YOU GOTTA TRY THE FOOD *****

the pastele shop is located at kalihi how it is a puerto rican food but it's a mexican food the rice is called mexican rice not gandule rice

Ordered 4 pateles, 4 banana lumpia and bacalao salad. They make a ? good pateles.
