The sashimi is as pristinely fresh as it gets, and the preparation is impeccable. Among the cooked items, the abalone chawanmushi and the ikura/uni jelly were particular favorites of ours; if the izakaya menu features any specials, be sure to order them. The agedashi mochi and tofu are a necessity, the samara were stunning, and the mirugai, which are skewers of abalone, were incredible.
The food is not bad, but it’s a little pricey for me, considering the quality. I ordered $38 combination sushi on top of other food. There was a miscommunication, and the waitress didn’t write down my order (but she gave a complimentary Tofu).By the time the sushi came, I was already full so didn’t finish it. And salmon had a bone.... I should have just cancelled the order....With this price and quality, I would go to other sushi places. But don’t get me wrong. The service was good.
Very delicious and fresh fish. Not a fan of the asari garlic clam. Would return again
Legit sushi and sashimi.James beard semi-finalist, and it shows. Chefs trained under michelin ? s and you can see it. Gotta make reservations, plan to eat a lot and spend some dough, but it's worth it.Actually, if you order reasonably, it doesn't have to be expensive, but in my humble opinion, if you're going to try gaku, you should try omakase sushi and/or sashimi. They always have the freshest fish that are in season, and will deal you the finest hand. ?Take an uber, drink sake, make a night out of it. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.Even for a sushi novice, let them know your apprehensions and they'll steer you in the right direction.(I only took 1 photo of the food because I was too busy slamming it in my face. The one food photo was of my wife's piece after I already ate mine)
Probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. Customer service was stuck up vibe and the prices are ridiculously high. Sushi wasn’t that good to be that high priced and the omakase portion, I can eat 500 of them, that’s how little they give you. It’s not that I can’t afford it, let’s just be real, this place is a scam. Save your money and respect and go somewhere else.
Walk in first come first serve after 7pm
A very nice experience with friends and family. The sushi is fresh and amazing. We had a good time there
I’ve been coming here for the last 10 or 12 years and Gaku consistently never disappoints and there is always something new to try. I recommend it to everyone.
Great service. Our servers were very attentive and the food was delicious. It's definitely worth the price. I highly recommend for any sushi lover.
The food is good, the service is good, the chefs are wonderful. Whatever you ask, they does.
