Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious.
Never go here!!! Customer service is so bad….while eating, my mother found a toothpick in her food and I was absolutely disgusted. The waitress that we told didn’t even try to apologize, she only asked if we wanted more…she was very enthusiasticWhen first walking in the place the place was absolutely filthy and dirty. The tables were very dusty(especially the glass), the floor was unclean, and if you look inside the kitchen it’s very unsanitary. Also in the kitchen my cousins and I heard someone yelling at the workers and a big argument. The food took quite a while as well and my cousins and I noticed how understaff the kitchen was which made sense. The food options were lacking and limited. The food was very greasy and the little bowls seemed like they weren’t properly cleaned either. The way they structure the table made ordering hard since I was with a big group of people too.If I could I would give this place no stars.
Decent and economical. But a wayyyy better bet is Jade Dynasty (shhh.. sorry am I not supposed to say that?). They're not super friendly though so I doubt they will read this or care, lol. I used to come here from time to time because I didn't think there were better options and I love dim sum. They're decent. Steamed dumplings are pretty good, but not much selection for other things. Egg custard very good.
Nice ladies working here. Service was great and food was excellent. They serve dim sum all day apparently. But kind of on the expensive side. Almost $7 a plate for the regular pork shumai and the shrimp dumplings.
Best to go before crowd. Steamed dim sum still nice and soft, and fried stuff nice and crunchy! Don't forget the sticky rice! ALSO, glad that the "grouchy woman" was not there to enforce Tip Rules. One time we visited [with a group too!!!], she thought we were not giving a tip. We wanted to give cash instead of putting on credit that we paid for bill and she overreacted and embarrassed us with her loud vouce saying "You HAVE to give tip to your servers!!!" She said other things that was not very becoming of a person from restaurant. Anyway, GLAD THAT MEAN PERSON WAS NOT THERE!!!!
Excellent dim sum. We come here every time we're in Honolulu.
Impatient server who demanded a larger tip she didn’t deserve. Very disappointing as it came highly recommended. Never again.
A relatively clean Chinese food establishment on Nuuanu Avenue where you can order dim sum all day long. Dine in or take out. Garlic chicken wings top my list as a favorite. Everything you try will be good.
Mei Sum was my "go to" restaurant. They were one of the few restaurants that provided take-out when we were not allowed to dine in. They also provided flavorful dim sum at a decent price. However, as restrictions have eased, their prices went up. What was 3.50 at the beginning of 2021 is now 4.95 for a slightly smaller portion. This price point is closer to what others charge. More disturbing however, is the decrease of the quality of their dim sum. Their fried taro doesn't have enough other ingredients to alter the bland taste of the taro. Their siu mai either is not mixed well or they changed the mixture. Whereas before, we would occasionally get less than tasty batches, now we are consistently getting tasteless siu mai. It doesn't taste like pork and it doesn't taste like shrimp, Its like they are using poor quality pork coupled with less shrimp. It also has the slight smell and taste of spoiled meat Their char siu bau has also changed in that it is mostly bread and the filling lacks chunks (notice plural) of meat. Their sticky rice lacks flavor. Their bean curd roll has a faint smell of white vinegar. Even their noodle dishes have changed. There is hardly any meat, or green vegetable and the gravy was extremely watered down (both lacking taste and not thick enough). I understand that prices needed to go up. However, when one increases prices, one must keep up the quality of food. Sadly this is not happening. We will NOT be eating here for awhile. There are other restaurants in Honolulu whose food was tasty, even though we had to pay more. It is not worth the drive and the price of parking.
Good dim sum.
