Quite a few years ago the owners of the now closed Town Restaurant opened Mahina and Sun. Town was Hawaiiâs first farm to table restaurant. Mahina continued that program but added more unique and creative fish dishes plus others. When the pandemic arrived Mahina was forced to drastically cutdown on most of their special dishes. Because of that my wife and I have not been back for over three years. Last night we returned. Mahina and Suns is BACK with their trademark farm to table super unique and creative dishes. There isnât another restaurant on Oahu in this category. Plus a superb waitstaff and great ambiance.
Great ambiance! We had a table overlooking the pool so we could hear the live music. Kale salad was delish, dressing was so good. I will crave this salad. The Viva La Vida cocktail is soooo good but wish it was larger. Enjoyed ourselves so much that we didnât take any photos.
Amazing get away from busy Waikiki. Staff weâre friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Canât wait to come back!
Love the pool side eating & live music a bonus!
A real hidden gem just a few blocks from the busy streets of Waikiki beach. We sat pool side and were entertained with live music throughout the evening. The service was top notch and my wife & I opted for the âfeastâ which could not compare to anything we have had in the past. All plates were tasteful and original; matching the uniqueness of this restaurant. Would definitely return for dinner or drinks whether on a date or with friends.
Chicken papaya soup good
I came here with my family to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary, and we ordered the family feast. It was a little pricey but 100% worth the extra spend. Every course was amazing, and the service was fantastic. The food standouts were the a'u crudo, this insane purple potato and/or yam dish that I didn't see on the menu (so garlicky, buttery, crispy, soft, yummy, all the things), and of course the whole fried fish (we had 2.5 lb pink snapper, which was SO good). On top of everything, the ambience was perfect. We sat near the pool, and there was singer/guitarist playing covers with a Hawaiian flair-- lovely.
Unique, quality food that was worth the price! Get the Family Feast -- the fish, sides and sauces were delicious!!
A fun place with decent food and music. Wanted a place that was close to the hotel that provided some local color. Great service. Enjoyed the experience.
Off the beaten path gem! A couple blocks off the main strip and you get a truly unique experience with amazing food, excellent service and great live music!
