Service was good, friendly. We got there when it opened. As prior started to get seated it got noisy. I had a hard time talking at a normal level of voice. I had the chicken And waffles. The chicken was pretty good in flavor and tenderness. The waffles were not very good. It got cold really fast or maybe it was already semi warm and not hot. The coffee was Luke warm. I kept asking for refill hoping it would be hot. It didn’t get any hotter. My friend had a sandwich. Kinda weird to eat a sandwich with a fried egg on top. Can’t use your hands. But it was ok. Maybe I’ll try it one more time. Not sure.
We had dinner here during our last few days in Oahu, and we're so glad we decided to try it out. We ordered family style and shared the koji-aged steak, roasted chicken, and seafood risotto. Each dish was so thoughtfully prepared, and the chef even came out to greet us and ask how everything was. Loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Hope to be back soon!
Chocolate Fashioned is very tasty
I love how they have different menus for everyone. We went for a weekend brunch and had their fluffy and delicious pancakes. Then we came back for dinner. Beautifully executed food with a twist.
Our favorite neighborhood gem. Chef Keaka continues to deliver excellence and creativity!
Quite good, highly recommended but be advised noisy at times. Acoustics are not especially conducive to conversation. Some (not all) of the 4 top tables are mildly uncomfortable, just kinda depends if you're actually sitting with 4 people. Still, overall, one of our favorite places.
Excellent service at Kapa Hale! Our host was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and patient with all of our questions. He was also able to recommend drinks after asking about taste pallet. The four of us hadn't eaten here before so we basically wanted to try everything. (And it was fun ordering the punny named dishes!) We ordered several starters: corn bread, naan/curry, octopus, and the special. Of these the "corny bread" was preferred. The naan in "naan ya business" was delish but the curry sauce didn't impress. We didn't taste the special, I can't remember what it was supposed to be now, because zucchini jun came out.The entrées were so filling because they're so rich. So, though you might see small plates in the guests' pictures, keep that in mind.We ordered the special (a porridge with shredded hamhock), two pastas (one comes with pork, the order does not, but noodles are housemade), and the steak. The porridge was tasty and super rich, especially with that salty hock and after eating all those apps. The "pappardelle alla pork guisantes" was okay. My entrée was the "agnolotti alla funghi" and it was de-licious. The "Koji aged boeuf" a 12oz steak was hands down melt in your mouth wonderful. It was enough to share and, fortunately, take home extra. We were stuffed but why not try dessert? We swooned over the oreo/coffee/chocolate pie (middle of the three menu options).(I had water so can't comment on non/alcoholic drinks, but my friends enjoyed them!)Overall, yes! Visit this place, try the rotating specials and definitely the steak. The service is top-notch and chef definitely creative.
A great take on modern Island food. Imaginative dishes and use of local spices and foods.
Best smoked octopus on the island. The "You Chick'n Me Out" was moist and tender for white meat chicken. "I Love You a Laksa Risotto" was absolutely excellent. They had to substitute the scallop (since they were out of scallop) with a seared piece of ahi, but the rissotto was still the best seafood risotto I've had in Honolulu. Service was impeccable and friendly, too. The cocktails had just the right amount of alcohol to give one a buzz. A totally memorable experience.
