Sauces and relishes are tasty. Not a traditional dog but that’s the point. Tasty lemonades too
Hula dogs are absolutely delicious and exceeded all our expectations! Unlike any hotdog we've ever had in the best way. All the different breads and relishes are delicious and so are the lemonades. (They accommodated just a plain hotdog for the kids too.) There is limited seating (about 5 picnic tables nearby) so just be prepared to take away if busy. Definitely worth a visit!
I was excited to see that Puka Dog had become Hula Dog and there would be a chance to have the hot dogs that Anthony Bourdain had eaten. However, my interaction with the gentleman behind the counter was less than enjoyable. I simply asked him questions about the menu, specifically flavors of whether they were salty, savory or sweet... But he responded not to me but to my husband with, "She asks a lot of questions, doesn't she?" We laughed it off, hoping it was a joke, however, when I continued to ask a couple additional questions he came back with the same responses about how I keep asking questions... He honestly didn't answer any of my questions. He just gave me lip. It also didn't feel like he was speaking to me and instead was talking to my husband. It felt very disrespectful, condescending and slightly misogynistic. We got lucky on the hot dogs and they tasted just fine, but they are definitely riding on the courtbut they are definitely riding on the curtails of Anthony Bourdain.
Neither of us particularly like hot dogs, but these are the best, with a Hawaiian twist. We had been to the related one on Kauai ( Puka Dog), and loved it.This is as good.Food truck style, with picnic benches.Sweet buns, mango relish, lillikoi mustard.Oh, and lillikoi lemonade.Yummy.No wonder Anthony Bourdain liked it !
Excellent hot dog. What makes it stand out are the flavors of the sauces and relish. So good. Make sure you get the taro bread.
Fun food truck for polish sausage and Hawaiian flavoured condiments. The ultimate sweet and savoury experience with taro bread and guava mustard.
The lady taking our order was not the nicest. All of the condiments were squeezed down in the bottom and in huge amounts with a decorative squeeze around the top. The hotdog could have been really good and the huge bun was tasty but just not prepared by some one that didn't want to be at work.
Friendly staff, tasty dogs and lemonade. If only I could get the bun grilled for some crisp, that's the only thing that would make it better.Pictured: Taro bread, Polish sausage, mild (original) sauce, pineapple relish, lilikoi mustard; plain lemonade
Both the hot dogs and flavored lemonade is top-notch. Usually not to crazy busy and a few tables to enjoy the food. My favorite part about their hot dogs is the buns, which make them super easy to eat and are simply delicious!
Still a great easy meal. Worth the visit.Been coming to this place (it's previous locations/names/owners) for 15 years and it's always a great snack. You won't find anything like it outside of Hawaii.~ going.global
