Bing Bros' jianbings are actually better than ones I've had in Beijing, which I had a few times a week during my month-long stay a few years ago. One notable innovation is the side of tasty wonton chips in lieu of the bland crispies that's used in Beijing. They definitely got it right. Thanks Beldon!
Kinda basic. The flavors are fine, but the textures conflict a bit. Would like the lettuce to be shredded so I don’t have to bite and pull it entirely out because it is hard to rip it separately from the wrap without spilling the contents. It was better when I stuffed it with the fried wonton chips to add a nice crunch but overall it’s okay. Not quite as filling and wish there was more sauce for taste xD;;
First time trying, took a recommendation from one of the workers and it was so good!!! I wish we had more street food stalls!! Will be back again.
Today I tried new taste, Bing Bros at the Pearlridge Center. Chinese style crepe or burrito(?), it was really good. The wrapper has a bit chewy texture with egg and green onion, and you can choose 1 or 2 meat from cha siu, bacon, spam, ham or roasted chicken. There are lettuce, cucumber, chinese pickles, pork flakes, and chili oil (option) inside. They put their original sauce and kewpie mayo. I asked the oil aside, but this changed the flavor quite big! You can see they make yours in front of you. Fun, yummy, and very reasonable. I will go back to get another one soon!
So far I've tried the chicken, spam, and char sui Bings. All of them are delicious and filling. The wait time after ordering is short and it's fun to watch how it is made as well.
I hardly eat at restaurants these days due to obvious reasons, so I’ve become a bit picky when I do decide to eat out. Let me say the price I paid for the amount of food I got was well worth it. The quality of the food itself is also top notch and is the closest thing there is to the original thing here in Hawaii. So overall it’s great place to find something to eat.
Chinese Street Crepes, that's what wheeled us in to try! This Food Kiosk is located, Downtown Phase 2 (Makai), between Icing Wai Makai & HIC.It wasn't too busy being a Saturday afternoon.We ordered the, Jian-Bing with Roasted Chicken. Being a small kiosk we could also watch the 2 working men make our Chinese Crepe.They were quite focused on the food.I would have expected a more uplifting experience as people watch especially for the keiki.It took about 8 minutes until our order was complete.The Chinese Crepe actually looked like a burrito. Upon the first bite it had a very distinguished taste. Quite sweet and savory with a tang flavor, not in the best way. Definitely has a Chinese zest. And the chicken they use is, Costco Rotisserie Chicken.As interesting as this concept may be, Bing Bros didn't quite hit the nail for us. Unfortunately, it is a one and done.
Super tasty, very authentic!
Justin and his staff are super friendly and they make it to order so it can take a little time so be patient.A little bit on the pricier side but definitely worth a try.I got the basic which is $8.50, add one meat for $2, i choose char siu, which was a little on dry side but flavorful. Also added pork floss for $1 more.If i could, i would like to have more of the pickled cabbage or whatever that picked vegetable was to cut the heaviness of it.Good to share or have to yourself if you're starving.
Jian Bing, or "Bing" for short, is a savory Chinese street food. If you compare it to a burrito, instead of a tortilla, a crepe is folded and wrapped around the filling. Besides lettuce, cucumber, wonton chips, hoi sin sauce, and mayonnaise, you may select other fillings such as bacon, bbq pork (Cha siu), and ham. It's really delicious! Look for the kiosk on the level between Longs and Consolidated Theater, next to Icings.
