We did the Outrigger Canoe Ride with Big Wave Dave and had a blast. Had people from 6 - 73 years of age and all had a good time. We ended up splitting into two groups with some of our group getting to ride twice, which was great for them. Staff were super helpful and the whole experience was terrific. They also did a good job recording our rides. Highly recommend.
Love it here!!! While on vacation in Oahu we bought everything from coffee to surf boards, board shorts, socks and lunch!! Can’t wait to go back!! ?
This surf class is a MUST if in Honolulu. Our instructor, Pauly, was amazing! Ha taught us so much and we had so much fun out on the water. It was definitely a little intimidating for first timers, but he made you feel so comfortable and confident. I got up a few times and so did my friends. I would absolutely do this again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for an awesome experience while on the island. Spend the $5 for the rash guard- you’ll need it!
We did surfing lessons and had a blast! All good the employees at Big Wave Dave were great. Lee was our instructor and he was patient and very easy going. We got up on a few waves and wished we had planned more time to surf on our trip. I recommend either wearing a thick swim shirt with sleeves or renting one. Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen on your legs(we burnt on the back of our calves). Grab a smoothie here after surfing too!
First time surfing. Paul and Chris were awesome instructors. I can't wait to surf again!!
I just tried their Americano and am super impressed.I love this coffee and the barista has some serious skills.Very cool place as well. I am so happy I went there instead of Starbucks or something like that. This was better coffee and a great vibe.Plus I met an amazing dog there that seems to be part of the place (Jackie).We will be back daily now.UPDATE- bought a hat and board shorts there too: amazing quality and super comfy. Glad I went that route too. Not disappointed.
Big Wave Dave’s surf lesson was our first activity booked for our stay in Hawaii, and it was a great place to start. The staff were courteous and engaged, and Chris our instructor was fantastic, and got my partner to stand up within one or two waves. The optional rash guards are a must if you don’t already have one, saves you from getting board rash. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who is looking to enjoy Waikiki from the ocean whilst enjoying the surf, and it is well worth spending the extra money to get a semi-private lesson.
Took the morning 90 min surf class with instructors Chris and Pauly. Our class had 7 people and they still made it feel individualized. Lesson began in the shop and continued in the water. Instructors were friendly, encouraging and gave lots of pointers. 10/10 would recommend.
Did the canoe surfing off waikiki Beach, canoes area. Its ok, better ones on the beach, family enjoyed it. Had to wait a lil bit on our reservation for them to show up but the "captain" made things interesting. Cost were about $50 per person. Rate this part as a 2 star experience, 3 star if they showed up on time.Rented a surfboard for the week. $165 for the week, board prolly worth 5 bucks. Horrible surfboard that had dings everywhere, looked like it was picked out of the garbage. Extremely heavy maybe water logged, soft top that irritated any exposed skin even with a rash guard. Would not recommend to anyone. Felt like I was ripped off. Better off renting from the beach directly. Ruined my surfing experience, told the shop my experience and was just shrugged off. 0 stars, total ripoff.
We had surf lessons yesterday (3/16). With Chris and Lee as our instructor. They were very cool and helpful guys. My two sons had a great time. One kid said to Chris I can’t do this, and he said yes you can gave him a push and some instructions and up he went. Every time after that he was up and going. My older son is a big boy, they accommodated him with a bigger board which was helpful, and he was able to get up every time to surf also! I barely got out on the water when I said forget this and was staying on land, Chris helped me get out to where we needed to be, and gave me the push to surf. They both were great guys. Very helpful and great instructions. I don’t think any of us would have done so well without their help and instructions! It made it better to see them cheering for my family while trying to surf. Great guys! Thank you all!
