First tryout for the Omakase course Vegitarian Food. Dishes are very detailed. We were expecting more natural dishes ?
The chef and staff are masters of the culinary arts. By far one of the best high end vegan restaurants I've been to. The food and presentation are in the same league as the vegan menus at Eleven Madison Park, Alinae and Brass Heart. Three elements really impresses me: texture, flavour progressions in a bit and making me love sake! The food is simultaneously advanced in gastronomy technique and unpretentious with comfort food inspired tastes. It's a truly exceptions experience and an honour to eat there.
Absolutely delicious. Thoughtful and creative dishes. 100% recommend for vegans and carnivores alike. Even my meat eating boyfriend was impressed!
January 2022:Came here to celebrate a birthday! I'm not vegan but I do like to try new places. AV is definitely pushing the boundary for what vegan food can taste like! This was a wonderful experience to taste how vegan food can evolve!Dinner is a set tasting menu that changes a bit depending on the chef's desires. My favorites included the beet tartare tartlet, dan dan tortellini, grilled taro nigiri and the portobello sando. We got three desserts and my favorite was the macadamia nut chocolate chip cookie! The hard part of the tasting menu is that you can't order more of your favorites
I’m on a quest to try as many vegan/vegetarian tasting menus, and I have to say that AV ranks amongst the top.Innovative without pretentiousness. Elements of nostalgia mixed in with fun. The tasting was an absolute delight and got even better and better with each new course laid out. This is the first time that I don’t want to reveal too much about the menu. You can see my photos for a general sense if you’re curious, but I highly encourage you to pay a visit soon! What I greatly appreciated about AV was how dedicated the team is to R&D. You’re not eating vegan substitutes for meat. You’re experiencing vegetables in a different light. If you’re curious about how they transform ingredients, this is the place to geek out about technique.
The restaurant is located far from the waikiki center in an old building. We started with selecting our plate we would dine in that night. It’s was a 14 course tasting menu costing about $99 person. The chef were making everything fresh and explaining everything. If you have any allergies they would accommodate that but informing while making an reservation certainly helps. The food was amazing and you will like it if you have an open mind and there to try something new.
This was one amazing culinary experience. The vegan multi course meal was very creatively done. Everything from the beet tartlet to the root vegetables pot pie to the macadamia nut chocolate chip cookies at the end was delicious with delightful tastes and textures.
From entry to departure, this meal was truly wonderful in every way. I loved selecting a plate and utensils that made me feel at home. The servers/chefs were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. At a certain point I asked my dining partners what part of the meal was and the chef overheard and explained what I was missing. They were attentive and answered all the questions we had in a way that was welcoming and unpretentious. Every dish felt unique and surprising. It was thoughtful, fresh and local or locally inspired when possible. In regards to COVID, I appreciate that the dining room was just us and one other party. The table was set for us when we arrived and we did not feel rushed to turn over the seat for another party. It was a wonderful night on my vacation and worth the price on experience alone but of course the food was incredible as well!
Love that there is a completely vegan fine dining restaurant on Oahu! It is a little pricey, but if you know how to cook vegan food and can appreciate it, you'll understand and accept the cost. It's not just cooked vegetables, they create amazing little dishes that combine so many different flavors. Declious!
An absolutely amazing experience. Delicious vegan food crafted with care and forethought. Each dish has a story and will never taste like you expect. Pricey, but absolutely worth it.The best word I would use to describe the food is fun! They play with flavours and it is all superb. Excellent service as well. You can tell that the staff all enjoy working there and creating this food.I will say that the restaurant is a little difficult to find. If Google maps is taking you into a parking lot with a gate, go around instead.
