The decor is sensational. An assault to the senses. Live music was nice. Very good, laidback vibe. The food also great but a little pricey for being essentially pupus.Cocktails however were on point - enough to get a lightweight drunk for brunch. I ordered the rama-rama. That gin was bomb. Slightly delightful herby aftertaste from the dill. Our favorites were the krazy fried rice and thai beef brochette. The banh mi sliders unfortunately were a letdown for me.I like how they’re casually growing lemongrass on the sidewalk. Good to get rid of mosquitoes.Would love to be back for happy hour.

I go to 1938 Indochine about once every 2 months. Food is pretty good, service is pretty good, ambiance and decorations are a 10 out of 10. The wine list could probably use some variety. Servers and bartenders need a little bit more training in the ingredients and product availability, especially with wines.I've never had a bad experience at this place and I will continue to go back, but there is always something keeping each experience from being a 5 star. The live music in the evenings really keeps the atmosphere lovely and fun. Check it out if you like south east asian food. The frog legs are delicious. Beef skewers are a super deal. The little dumplings are really good also. All in all, the Aoki Restaurant group has created an atmosphere at all of their locations that are visually amazing, and hire staff that are friendly and fun, but lack in experience. For the price point, it's right on, but with that level of investment in location, decorations, and attention to some detail, there should be more focused on the f&b and service side.

Had the pleasure of both dining in and taking away food from 1938 Indochine. If you are able to, I'd recommend dining in. The ambiance is warm, exotic and welcoming. The restaurant is clean and the service is 5 star. The food comes in beautiful dishware and if you go during certain hours, there is local live music playing during your meal :)The take away experience wasn't as amazing. For some reason the food just wasn't as good . The portions seemed a bit smaller? Just the entire experience was so different from dining in.I will definitely be back to visit dining in :)

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience of this place. The staff was underwhelming, but the food options definitely made up for it. I went on an Saturday night and there place was full of fashionable people celebrating birthdays and enjoying themselves. My major complaint would be the uncaring method they delivered the food itself. With the live music the server was almost yelling. The drink menu is pretty extensive with a lot of spirits. I would definitely go back and give them another shot

Great atmosphere and the food hit the spot. Service was helpful and very friendly. COVID-19 protocols were being followed. Outdoor dining was comfortable and enjoyable.

Vietnemese inspired dishes and cocktails focusing on fresh, zesty and spicy flavours. Service was attentive and helpful. Menu items can be altered to accommodate dietary needs.

I’m half Thai so I understand Southeast Asian flavors since childhood. The food was “meh” at best. SE Asian food should be fresh, satisfy all 5 tastes, aromatic and have balance. The food here lacked all of these characteristics. The food was actually overly salted and overly spicy. In reference to my photo, the chicken filling in the lettuce cup dish was not fresh. The salt extracted the water from all the ingredients and made the dish too juicy. The chicken mix was probably made a day ago. Service was pushy and clueless, three minutes into the first appetizers, I had to ask a bus boy for share plates. At this price point, naturally there are expectations. It’s extra frustrating especially in the beginning the waiter explained to us all the food on the menu is meant to be shared.Nice decor.

I wanted to enjoy this meal a lot more than what it was hyped up to be. I imagine their more experimental and innovative items on the menu would be a lot better. A lot of what we ordered are similar to dishes that I grew up with. So I give credit to authenticity and flavours that remind me of home. But I was hoping for a bigger impact in flavour and interesting dishes that weren’t masquerading as something else. For example “Imperial Roll” is just a fancy title for a spring roll. Cocktails were great, and would’ve liked to have tried their whiskey/bourbon flight.

1938 was a good experience all around, we started at the bar while we waited for our friends to join us. We had a fabulous ginger whiskey drink made with homemade ingredients and it was good. Once our friends arrived we moved to our reserved table. The atmosphere is fantastic, love the decor!! We ordered just a bunch of different plates and everyone pretty much shared. Again can't complain about anything we ordered, really the only compliant and this is with everything is that the plates are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher but not limited to just one place of course. Everything had good flavor and was cooked well and to order. All said and done it was a good meal and good experience we would definitely go back.

Wow such great food and cocktails. Service was amazing too!
