Absolutely delicious, simple home cooked food full of flavor and beautifully executed. Main highlights are the tendon (pictured) and tsukemono but everything is very very good. Heads up that it’s cash only, no sitting room, and one person works the shop so you might have to wait a little bit. But that’s all more than worth it. 10/10
Best hole in the wall Japanese food I've had in quite some time even when compared to the mainland. The price is very cheap given the times. Each plate is around $8 which will fill up the average adult. I ordered a tempura lunch plate and the order was freshly fried right in front of me! Where else does that happen for the price?!

I got the chicken katsu curry - the katsu was great, perfectly cooked, nice and crispy. The curry was even better.. some of the best food that I have had in Hilo town.
Get the menchi katsu pork cutlet, out of this world good ? dashimaki is excellent, curry is good too. Can't go wrong ?

LOVE Tamari's!! Ono Japanese food, one of a couple of good Japanese restaurants in Hilo. Take out only. Cash only. My favs are Bulgogi or teri chicken mini plates but other good options including vegetarian dishes. I go there about once a week and have never been disappointed!
