The food is plenty and good just a bit pricey
I used to love Kalbi Express, but due to the increased prices, and besides, their take-out boxes/trays are smaller now, so not getting your money's worth.
I got the BBQ & fish Jun compo, flavor was good But as with many places the beef was rubbery/chewy!! it's a hit or miss here sometimes very tender, this last time some of the was rubbery I'll go back but will not be ordering the BBQ beef! The sides could be more flavorful!

Good fastfood-style bbq.It's part of a food court-style location, so don't plan to "dine in".Tasty and affordable and not disgustingly greasy like some other fastfood bbq places.

The Kalbi combo was a disappointing lunch- for ~$18 the kalbi quality was not good (thin, stringy fat, no char marks, and a small portion for the price); the japchae was soggy. The chicken katsu and sides were reasonable. Overall, I cannot recommend this place and there are other plate lunch options in Hilo that have better quality and value.
Kalbi's is located in the Waiakea food court next to Walmart. You can dine in or take out. They have a lot of selections to choose from.Their best dishes are the Korean menu if you love hot and spicy. Also, they have some local and American food menus to choose from too! Some dishes are pricey but it's worth it.The staff are friendly and they do their best to serve you. Their combo selections are also great too! Their serving time is awesome!Just be aware, if the line is long. Just be patient! I give them a 5 star rating because they used to be located in the plaza.Don't take my word for it, try them out yourself! Have a wonderful day! Enjoy your visit! ??
Very friendly. Tries very hard to please customers. Food is great. Ordered my steak medium rare with garlic shrimp and the seafood soup. Every thing was tasty, tasted fresh and they cooked the steak medium rare as I ordered.
