Just left with my family from this restaurant with the worst experience I've ever had dining out. They served us old chicken, old rice, everything had no flavor and it was honestly disgusting. I asked for more sauce for my BBQ chicken and they brought a spicy sauce that tasted like old onion sauce and when I said it wasn't the right sauce they said that's all they had... Okay. So I asked the waitress (who looked miserable, I don't blame her) if we'd be able to get a discount since we didn't want to eat our food- when I asked this, the cook in the back (old Korean woman) glared at me. So I went to sit down and the owner (she said she was the owner) came to our table SO aggressively and attacked us, saying she was going to call the police if we didn't pay. The fact that she assumed we wouldn't pay was crazy. And when I tried to explain that our chicken tasted old, she started screaming at us saying that everything was fresh but it was obvious that the chicken was old and the rice was too. My mom, who is from Japan, even mentioned the rice was old because it tasted old and had a strange color. The "owner" continued to scream at us, including other tables in the discussion (the other table looked very uncomfortable) until we paid for the food and left. This is a good lesson for us to never come to extremely slow restaurants because they end up cooking food in the morning and microwaving it in the afternoon. I'm just hoping we don't get sick from the few bites that we took. I've worked in restaurants all my life and have NEVER been treated this horribly by anyone. Do not come here unless you want food poisoning or to be insulted and berated if you don't like their food.
I could not even eat anything. Gross. Nasty tasting food. Very unappealing. Only went to meet friends.....they are not my friends anymore! DO NOT waste your time or money. All you have to do is a rive by to get the picture.
The Bibimbap was very fresh, very filling. The Gochujang might be made in-house as it is very mild.Overall... A very enjoyable meal.
Called in order for pick up,wait time is quicker.. Spicy pork and meat jun bento, is a favorite .
I hope the food will be good but the time it takes to get the food is unacceptably long. Extremely slow food service. It took forever for their phone line to clear so that they could charge my credit card, then it is an additional forever to get a simple order of food. If this is their level of service I won’t be back.
This hole in the wall little place turned out to have fantastic food, beautifully presented and kindly served.
Cham Cham Korean BBQMy family and I frequent Cham Cham for lunch and dinner. Its a small hole in the wall location, but the food here is amazing. There is a single chef most days but yet what they produce is nothing short of amazing quality.I’ll admit the restaurant itself is dated and in some ways a little dusty but it hasn’t and doesn’t, at least in my case affect quality of food.Personally I normally order the bim bim bap, its where I first tried it and have pretty much stayed with it from day one. I will occasionally order a Kim Chee Stew.My brother normally orders the Fish and Meat Jun combo. In regards to food size the portions are relatively large. And for some plates shareable.Like many Korean restaurants they provide a medley of side dishes free of charge. (One of my favorite reason to visit). If you’re in Hilo and would like a nice Korean dined please check them out.The reason for a 4 vs. 5 star is due to the fact that the prices are on the higher side. But overall doesn’t and hasn’t changed my opinion of quality. Must try!
Very authentic Korean food! Full menu of Korean staples, plus options for those who aren’t accustomed to Korean food such as the kalbi or the seasoned chicken. Everything was seasoned perfectly and very flavorful. Yes, it’s pricey, but you’re on an island and it seems to be a local business run by two Korean ladies so show them some love and support!
Some of the best food on the Island, their spicy chicken bul bi gi was delicious and had a lot in the meal. The food was worth the price
A little pricey, but so delicious. Portions were generous and again so delicious. Authentic and
