Arrived at 1 PM. Only ordered a single super loco and a coke and the order took 40 minutes. Still good value but that’s a long time to wait for a single order. The other thing was people that had large orders (5 food items or more) that came after me were served first which seemed confusing. Also of note: Masks are required, even to takeout (current as of 26 Apr 2022).
This is where we planned our first taste of Loco Moco. It was a fun experience to try a local food but there was no seating available, even outdoors - all the tables were off limits and you had to wear a mask to order at their outdoor window. We ended up eating in the car. The Loco Moco was good and it was my first and only Loco Moco so I have nothing to compare it to but it’s award-winning so I’m glad I tried it. My favorite was the Teri beef burger though! I wish we had that in Texas!
The original inventor of loco moco. When in Rome…. Or Hilo!!!Very tasty. Take out only. Restrooms closed.
Had to come and try the "original". Got the loco moco, great gravy. Also got the Portuguese sausage >>> almost liked that better! They are only doing takeout service, all the outdoor space still close due to COVID. Kind of weird, since it is outdoors. We took our dinner back to the hotel. They also require face masks, with line drawn on the ground so you know exactly how to queue up.
This place is the spot to hit up while on the big island, the Portuguese sausage here is money I got it as a side even when it didn't come with any. The breakfast here is well portioned and filling if you stop here before a big day out you're definitely set. The only thing to keep in mind is that you'll probably have to eat in your car or pick it up and take it to your place because seating is limited to non-existent, but with food this good I'll burn my lap in the car and crack a window every day.
The food as usual is great, they are where the Hawaiian favorite Loco Moco was invented. They have not however re opened the basically outside seating even after the County and State have allowed full capacity for restaurants. They have also significantly increased their prices. With that said, the food is very good but the ordering process needs to be shifted back to normal.
Food was good. Several varieties of Loco moco which was awesome. The gravy was amazing! Didn't realize it was counter service and outside tables not open due to covid. We ate in our car in the parking lot but it was still good.
We were looking for something local and Hawaiian on our way to Volcanoes National Park. Cafe 100 was a great value with delicious food. The portions were generous and our food was fresh and hot! We felt like they did a GREAT job being careful about the spread of Covid in their community.
Small local spot. Food is hot and delicious! Check it out if you love loco Moco since they've arguably been credited as making the original in 1949.
Perfect hearty diner-style meal after a day of hiking at Volcano NP. This place is unapologetically casual and the outdoor picnic benches were unavailable due to Covid, but lunch was hearty and cheap with tons of options.
