Had the breaded cod saimin, the cod is excellent, however the soup was way too salty, just tasted like salty water.

I had never had saimin before, but was pleasantly surprised. There was a large variety of ingredients in the bowl, and the broth was made from an excellent tasty dashi base. While I wouldn't consider the ingredients to be "high quality" in the traditional sense, I felt that wasn't the point of saimin. It really seems like a hodgepodge of lots of random ingredients (eg. Lunch meat and wontons) that somehow come together to create an extremely comforting and filling bowl of goodness. It is my understanding that saimin is an "old-timey" food, and despite the fact that it was my first time trying it, the old and nostalgic feel and taste to the dish shined through brightly. The bowl served to me was more than a dish, it was an experience of sorts that transported me to an era from before I was born.Concerning the restaurant itself, the service was very friendly and the menu was huge.Overall a great first saimin experience for this mainlander.

This is a hidden gem, locals place, with really good Hawaiian home style food. I tried the Lau Lau with beef stew plate and it was delicious. The prices are very reasonable. The wait person was friendly and very efficient. Quick service on the food.

Food was great. Service was ok. They forgot one of our appetizers. The char siu sailing was very good. The grilled cheese off the kids menu was really good too. Kid approved. Nice local spot.

Perhaps the best saimin on Oahu. All of their saimin combinations are delicious. Love their broth and the char siu. The dodonpa is awesome! Also love their mochiko chicken, tuna melt, and country fried noodles! Friendly staff and always delicious.

My daughter and I both had a craving for good, old- fashioned saimin, so of course we'll go to Shiro's!! It's been awhile, but it won't be that long ever again!!

Fantastic local joint. The service was friendly. The portions were huge. The food was delicious. Great value.. Please give this place a try to experience the real Hawaii.

The Country Fried Noodles with Chicken Mochiko Chicken were delicious!

My go to place for char siu/ wunton saimin whenever I visit Oahu!

We had a efficient & friendly waitress, Chantelle. Make us want to return again.
