Not sure if we got a new cook but half the food was not great or just flat out wrong. Service and management did what they could to make it right though.The good: the beer battered fish and chips was absolutely astounding. By far the best thing my family got here. Prices were reasonable. The grilled chicken was average if not above average. For the parts of our meal that were wrong / bad, when we were asked if our food was good and we basically responded with "eh..." The waitress immediately inspected and noticed what we didn't touch and asked about it. Then immediately got their manager to resolve the issue. Amazing service in that regard.The meh: unknown to us at the time, but outside is the smoking section.The bad: the steak frites were ordered medium rare and received well done and nigh inedible. The corned beef beef, cabbage, and potato only had the potato being remotely warm although the corned beef maybe would have been good if hot and fresh.
I highly recommend the horseshoe sandwich! If you’ve never tried it, you definitely should. Being a Springfield IL native, seeing this on the menu made me so happy!! I have tried to have other restaurants make me a horseshoe, but they just don’t understand! Donovans always has fantastic service and delicious food!
Me and my friend tammey love coming here. We love to sit on the patio its also dog friendly patio so that's really nice!!! The wings here are amazing but most of the food here is and they make good stiff drinks lol ? waitresses are great and friendly and on top of there game!! All around just a great place to meet friends or a date have lunch or dinner and relax in a great atmosphere
Food was good. Service was good. Server was not happy. Very pretty woman for my server but I guess she went home and beat her husband. Clean place. Food was varied. I expected more Irish fare but clientele probably wouldn't support that kind of food. No Irish music, just contemporary junk music. But I understand that servers can have a bad day. She was attentive, I just hope she is smiling and happy again. It's tough to have a vision/theme for a restaurant and then have to modify that vision to pay the bills of the restaurant. Or not have staff work their hours. If I was in the area I'd eat there again.
Slow when I went in the middle of the day on a Saturday. Food came out fresh. Highly recommend the Irish Boxty!
This was our first time. It was Thursday and menu date night. We got their special deal and loved it! Staff is friendly and the food is terrific! This will be a restaurant we frequent.
Awesome brunch! The staff is always super friendly and attentive. I got the breakfast boxty. Eggs, hashbrowns, prime rib, potato pancake and half sausage gravy, half cheese sauce. ?
Loved it all. Best peach cobbler ever. Dog friendly. Had brunch birthday party. First time there. So good we came back for dinner with other friends that have never been.

we had a birthday dinner there on a Saturday night. there was special promotion on Guinness Beer. live music plenty of open seating. great wait staff very attentive. we will be back soon.
