I was spoiled with taco trucks in LA so I’ve been looking for something that authentic.This… this is it. It’s the place.I got steak tacos and a margarita and it was super reasonably priced.Margarita was huge!I’m in love
I really hate to say it, but this place has only gotten worse with every trip. I'm the guy that always gets the number 10 during lunch times usually on Tuesdays or Thursdays.The thing about this place is that it's REALLY GOOD if there is less than 2 cars in the parking lot. If they are even semi busy, don't expect your food to be seasoned and to only see your waiter about once or twice. If there are more than 2 sets of customers in the store, you won't get refills for your drinks and you will have to walk up to the register to both get your bill and pay it (because you know, your waiter/waitress wont come and check on you until about 35 minutes later).I've given them the benefit of the doubt probably about 5-6 times and given them the same number of extra chances because their staff is friendly (though not efficient). Yet they've consistently failed to even give me a moderate experience for the last 8 months.So again if their parking lot looks dead, then go on ahead and you'll probably get a good meal. If they look even slightly busy, keep on driving.

I've been going to Monterrey's for over twenty five years. It has Always been my favorite Mexican restaurant. Their food is always deliciously consistent. I go to the LaVista Road location, and the Hwy 92 location in Cherokee county. The service is always over the top!
Overall, I never really get super excited about American style Mexican food restaurants. 25 years in San Diego has me spoiled. But this place works. It felt at home for me and little things didn't feel "off". The margarita was just a hair strong, so you know they're not being cheap. I'm sure their Texas style would satisfy anyone's liver needing a punch.We ate on the patio and it was a pretty great time.
Great Experience the food was great. I had the choripollo dish and my wife had the fajita salad we also had two tacos. Everything was very good I didn't want to ruin the moment and take pictures of the dishes because it was my wife's birthday but definitely will do that next time we come by the restaurant what is located on lavista road in Tucker Georgia. I would definitely recommend it the atmosphere is very friendly. The waitress was very nice and pleasant so anything that really might have went wrong wouldn't have really noticed. Thank you Monterey Mexican restaurant we appreciate you being available to us to enjoy our Mexican food fix.
The food was tasty for the most part, but the service wasn't very good. We had a party of 8 for lunch, we arrived around 2:40, lunch specials are over at 3 & we weren't waited in until about 2:50 even though there were hardly any people in the restaurant. There was an issue with the shrimp not tasting fresh & when we were given a different order the waiter tried to charge for both meals when the 1st order was sent back. Nevertheless, our group will probably not visit this location again. Word of advice, please pay close attention to your check before paying.
Love this restaurant, it is our go-to Mexican restaurant meeting all our needs with a HUGE menu, cheap prices, fast and friendly service, and everything you'd expect from your food. The salsa, queso, and chips are always perfect and quickly refilled, the menu has something for everyone, and it's a nice big space with little wait. It's super popular locally to peak hours will have a bit of a wait but it's worth it! The portions are also huge!
We have been going here for years, but recently had a terrible experience and won’t be going back. We ordered takeout…just a couple of ground beef burritos. When we took the first bite, the meat had a strong metallic taste. We tried a couple more bites, but it was disgusting. The next day we both had food poisoning and spent the day back and forth between the bed and bathrooms. It was awful. Guess that’s why they got a C on their inspection!
