Wanted a good soul food meal and this was awful.Everything I ordered needed seasoning. The gravy was bland with no seasoning and so was the greens, Salisbury steak, and rice and the cornbread was really dry and hard. I will definitely WILL not be coming back.
Don’t like to leave negative comments but must be honest. Desperately wanted some ribs today, where I usually go was not open so I decided to try this place. I don’t like sauce on my ribs, a good seasoned tender rib does not need sauce. Sides were green beans and Mac N cheese. Oh, also got peach cobbler. Total $22+. Got home took two bites and the second bite was forced. Nothing was fresh, all of that food was old and reheated. I knew the ribs were old before I tasted them because of how they smelled. Mac n cheese was horrible. Let’s not even mention the peach cobbler, it too was not fresh, came out of the refrigerator, I’ve yet to find a peach, seasoning was horrible. Needless to say, my last visit. Wish I had read the other reviews before I wasted my money.
If you're hungry I would not recommend this place my husband and I try to support black owned business especially with soul food but I went in and a young man was behind the counter did not greet customers didn't say we'll be with you all shortly he just looked in the door to the back and his phone as if no one was there. The food smelled amazing hate the customer Service was terrible.
I went here and got the turkey wings. The lady at the register took so long to ringing the folks in front of me my food got cold. When I got home I had to heat it up. The Mac and Cheese didn't taste very good and the cornbread was dry. The turkey wing actually was good after I reheated it. The search for a good soul food restaurant close to home continues.
I can’t tell you about the food because the lady servicing my order was so nasty, I left. Visually, the food was not that appealing but I entered on the tail end of lunch. The gentleman in the store greeted me and was pleasant I told him I wasn’t sure what I wanted, just yet. An older lady came out from the back area. I placed my order of turkey wings, dressing, and mac. The drippings from the turkey wings, that she put over my dressing looked sub par so just before she closed my box, I asked if I could have a little of the smothered pork chop gravy on my dressing. Apparently, that would be a huge burden and she informed me that I should have asked before she closed the box. I gave her the deuces because you’re not going to be rude to me and get my money. She is definitely a bitter and toxic person. That energy is most certainly in the food prepared. Don’t treat your self to the negativity!!!
Thought this was going to be delicious but naaaaah. The porkchop was not tender, the SCOOP of rice was ok, but gravy was so watery and thin it seemed to not even be any. The macaroni and cheese was edible . However the cornbread tasted like it had been in refrigerator and then reheated The red velvet cake was a 4 out of 10 at best. Even the sweet tea was nasty. Definitely won't return!! So disappointed in my people ???
Lady serving food was very rude! I went in for a veggie plate! Asked if my Lima beans could be put in a section of the plate instead of where the meats go, simply because that was the only vegetable that had juice. I was getting Mac, dressing, and yams. She replied this how we make our plates!? The most ignorant comment a Restaurant could make! Cake was dry and I wasn’t allowed to wash my hands!!! I had just finished changing baby diaper and explained that to the lady she said that was not her problem…? I said you are so right and left!! Very disappointed in the service I drove from Forests Park for SOULFOOD had to settle for WNB next door. They were welcoming and customer service was SUPHERB!
Oxtail were 25 dollars and they only gave me 2 pieces. But the worst part was the cake it was so so so DRY AND STALE AND HARD. The rest of the food was ok, my dressing had so much sage seasoning in it . but I can tell that it's not freshly cooked its like food they reseasoned from the beginning of the week. All I can say is the quality of the food was awful and disappointing.
First and last visit 1/12/22. Approx $30 for the two 1 meat 2 sides and cornbread plates of the measliest portions of food I have seen. The taste was was ok but not great and not worth the price at all. Rice and cornbread are cheap and easy and they gave a child sized portion of both. Can' serve even a spoonful of rice, they use tiny scoop to prepare the plates. I wanted to leave but stayed and paid for my food because I ordered it. SO DISAPPOINTED, I should have just walked out and took my money someplace where I could eat and get full.
bought cake from this place a few months back and forgot to post...The cake was old...I mean stale and hard. I called and spoke with the owner and told him about the cake, I even told him that I could bring the cake in and show him that we did not eat it...he jumps on defense and tells me that his wife bakes cakes daily and the cakes are always fresh...LIES...I said to him, "O' you are one of those" and hung up. This is why a lot of black businesses fail and why black people do not patronize with black business...poor customer service. He never apologized and I have never gone back and I will never go back. Chic Fil La gave me cold fries, I called and told the manager, she immediately said how can I make this right??? I told her I will bring the fries back, I did and they gave me fresh fries and gift card for my trouble. There is definitely a difference when dealing with our own...I have been a business owner for over 20 years and when a customer calls with a complaint ..I do not jump on defense...because mistakes happen in business.
