Retro diner feel and very good burgers here, and customize as much as you like. Real old fashioned milkshakes are huge and topped with very rich whipped cream and a cherry. I work nearby and this has become my favorite lunch spot. Self entry kiosks guide you through the menus and are very fast and easy to use. The staff is entirely behind the counter and are very hard working and fast and courteous. This is a very clean place to eat and there are plenty of booths and tables. They have a drive thru, but I've never used it. It's a lot more comfortable inside and the cars are often wrapped around the building waiting to make their order. Better and faster at the kiosks and never a mistake, unless you make one. I notice that a lot of the customers, at least those that dine in like I do, are older than the folks that one usually see at fast food restaurants. The 50s / 60s feel and decor is friendly and tasteful. No gimmicks here, just a great place for lunch. I highly recommend you stop in and try it. This is a burger restaurant, but you can get a grilled cheese here if you want. No chicken or fish, just delicious burgers, fries, and onion rings.
Food was great but we had to wait a really long time for our food. When I asked the manager how much longer because families with 5 plus people came in after we placed our orders and they have all ate and left but there was only 2 of us. She got real nasty telling me the numbers have to roll back around to 100 as we were 101 BUT we heard the numbers roll around twice. When I advised her of this she told me, "I don't know what to tell you then just wait and it'll be ready when it is."We will NOT be back to this location.
I’ve been going to this location for years. Food has always been great, along with their service. I just visited to dine in this afternoon for the first time after the pandemic, and realized that a lot has changed. There are no waiters. You have to order on a screen then wait to pick your food up, then sit down and eat. It’s a little weird now. I gave them 3 stars because their burgers are still good. Fries are too but they are extremely skinny. It allowed me to order a coffee, but when I went to pick it up, I was told that they no longer sell coffee. I was confused on why it allowed me to order it. Next there was no sweet tea. I filled my cup up and was disgusted after one sip when I realized it was water or whatever it was that I took a sip of lol. Wasn’t sweet tea though lol. So yeah just keep these things in mind. The only people that’s there are busy cooking your food so there’s not much help if you need it.
My first visit to Steak n Shake since before the pandemic. They no loner have wait staff. The have kiosks to place your order then pick up your food drinks as they're called out. More like Freddy's but with better burgers. They don't have the seasoned salt on the tables anymore which was one of the best parts about eating here. Probably will just stick to Culvers
Extreme awful customer service. Placed an order at 2:30 and watched the cook make meals and serve them for 10 minutes. When I asked where my food was she then lied and said the order just came up. Spoke with some man who said he was the manager then the owner showed him what time my card was charged and they still argued that my order was just placed. Completely trash restaurant with even worse service.
We ate inside and found out they have gotten rid of the waiters. Now you have a kiosks that you order from. Once you put your order in and go seat yourself. Then they will call your number when your order is ready. It took approximately 15min-20min to get the food, but I think the process is new and will see it speed up over time.
They were short staffed and we were in line at 1030pm. We had 6 cars in front but 2 cars left and we understood that there would be a wait so we patiently waited for over an hour and a half. By the time we got to the cashier, they didn't acknowledge that they were closing so we assumed them to eventually take our order. 30 minutes passed with no one to speaking to us. Staff made eye contact with me then ignored me as if she had something else to do. they just cleaned and pretended that we didn't exist. If you see the wait time for me, yes it was 2 hours and it's my fault for not leaving earlier but there should be a courtesy to let your customers know the situation. If you're so understaffed, then close down. Because the minimal staff they have is already unprofessional and terrible at their job if it takes them 2 hrs to complete 4 orders. I used to always go to steak N shake in Chicago, but after this experience, I'm never going again.
Its is 1106pm you are listed to close at 12am. I am so disappointed that I checked times of operation got in my Car and drove 8 miles. I will not leave out that I am recovering from spine surgery and for the last two weeks I couldn't think of anything else except a Steak and Shake milkshake. If your going to close early maybe make that adjustment on you published times of operation.
No one to wait on you. The self service is not what I expected from Steak and Shake. It used to have a personal touch that was refreshing. Stop with trying to reinvent a system that has been proven to thrive for the last 80 years.
First time I've ate at steak and shake in probably 10 years everything is ordered through the kiosk I think the french fries are too small they're like them little potato sticks in a can otherwise very clean place good burgers
