Was here in 2015, it’s now 2022 and I’m still thinking about how truly awful this food was. How in the world can do many people give 5 ⭐️ reviews and so many people give 1 ⭐️? The ribs were absolutely horrible. The membrane was still on them. They were hard to the point of being in unable to cut them. The flat soda I had was the best part of the “meal”… They must save all the bad quality meat for the week of the annual BladeShow and cater to the locals the other 51 weeks of the year. I’m convinced that covid has existed since 2015, because all of the 5 star reviews must’ve been missing their taste and smell.
Family owned since the late 60's. This place has a very friendly staff, the atmosphere is like a down home BBQ place should be, and the food is excellent! My wife and I will definitely go back when we're craving good BBQ!
OMG, if you’re ever around this way you have to stop by and taste this food. This is by far the best bbq I’ve had. The key lime pie is to die for. These fries with pulled pork and cheese was delicious, they had my mouth watering after the first bite.
This place feels like home. You go in the door and first thing you get is a hug from Ms Joy (owner) her parents started the restaurant and her family keeps it going. The food is amazing the atmosphere is comforting. It's a perfect place for any down home southern folk and a great place to introduce any friends who aren't from the south. The sweet tea is great, and I will order the Brunswick stew to go every time so I have a little for work. The pull pork is phenomenal and the beef is to die for. My hubby really loves the chicken. Can't go wrong with the sweet and hot bbq sauce.
Some of the best barbecue I've ever had. The staff is excellent and Joy the owner is the sweetest. If u get a chance stop for some great food and southern hospitality.
Old South has been open since 1968. Several friends met there for this dinner. I must admit that I was expecting a great meal. The waitstaff was friendly, but we were disappointed in the food. The pulled chicken was tasteless and dry. The Brunswick stew was monotoned. The slaw was fresh and vinegary. The cooked pork butts and rib slabs, oddly piled on the grill, looked like they had been sitting for hours. The sliced beef looked processed. Overall, I’m sure this establishment had a heyday, but everything was tired and worn out.
Decided to give this place a shot seeing the reviews…….I musta missed something. We got a jr pork plate and hickory fries w/ beef.Let me tell you we couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Hell the waitress couldn’t tell either ?So both meats were chopped…… and dry as heck! There is no need to chop any meat up that much, unless you can’t chew it.The Brunswick stew is unlike any other I’ve had. Imagine chopped meat, corn, and tomato sauce…. That’s it.Now the potato salad was pretty damn good.Sorry but 2 stars is being generous
This place has some of the best barbecue around. The people are absolutely super friendly the most respectful place to eat in Smyrna. I can go on and on about this place but the best thing to do is try it for yourself, lunch time is definitely the busiest time of the day so you may have to wait to be seated and have to wait a little bit for your food but it's definitely worth the wait
I am never disappointed in this place. All of the food was great. This time, we had chopped pork, Texas toast, hush puppies, fried okra, potato salad, Brunswick stew, and Arnold Palmer's. Everything was excellent. I cannot find BBQ like this in South Florida, so I make a point to eat here every time I visit the area.
Awesome Mom and Pop restaurant, if you want some good old southern food this is the place. Pulled pork sandwich hit the spot. Also bag for your buck, you get good size plate for a great price.Highly recommend!
