My family has been coming here for a while now as regular customers (2-3 times a month). Last week we had a server who, while certainly an experienced professional, was new to this restaurant. The only way that showed was when I asked if my order normally comes with rice as a side. He went to ask and came back with a side of rice, explaining that what I ordered does not come with rice but he would give it to me at no cost. This was absolutely not necessary and I took it as the restaurant, and this server, putting the customer's satisfaction above what is probably less than fifty cents worth of rice. I would not have ordered the side of rice but I did eat some of it.After we asked for the check the manager came to our booth with the server standing behind her. She told me that my order did not come with rice. The server was obviously embarrassed. It was clear we were being charged for the side of rice. I was not going to argue about that as the server was just trying to do his job well and probably had worked in order restaurants where giving aa free side off rice to a customer would not be an issue. I said "OK".So here we have a new staff member trying to provide good service and a manager that not only won't back him, but made him stand there listening to her tell the customer as much. But she then started reciting to me the ingredients of my order, pointing out that rice is in the dish and listing every single thing that was part of my order.I read the menu, I knew there was rice in my burrito. What I didn't know was whether it came with a side of rice. So I had asked.i know this is long-winded but I am trying to be fair. The food was good. The service was good. But this manager put fifty cents of rice above both her staff and her customer, creating a very uncomfortable situation for all of us. And I was not even disputing the charge, which i feel I had every right to do.In the end I paid the bill, gave the server a generous tip, and the restaurant lost ~$200 a month in revenue from my family because I will not be going back.
My mother and I were celebrating early for our Mother's day, and birthday together. So, we decided to come here to enjoy ourselves. The blackberry margarita was delightful! Our waiter Jorge ( I do apologize for the misspelling) was fantastic, and sweet to us. Will gladly come back again to enjoy the hospitality Luna Maya has to offer!
I have been to Luna Maya 3 times now and it is delicious! I love their margaritas and the food is always hot and delicious. The last time I went I just got the lunch special 4 which comes with the burrito, taco, gaucomole salad and a drink. I got the chicken burrito and it was perfectly moist, tender, and flavorful. The salad had a gracious amount of gaucomole and other accompaniments that was just perfect with the burrito. The best part is that the lunch specials are only $8 which I think is a fantastic price, especially for the size of the burrito. The salsa was a good consistency and it had the right amount of spice that still let the ingredients shine. The time before I got the Burrito Supreme which is equally as good, it just may have been slightly larger and it came with rice which was also delicious. Luna Maya has definitely become by go-to Mexican lunch spot when I want a quick meal for a great price!
Our first visit here and it didn’t disappoint. Our server Victor was amazing!!!!! His recommendations were on point. Our drinks were never empty!! The food is amazing and the portions were huge. We definitely needed to-go boxes.
The chicken taco was a little bit saltier than I should probably eat but still tasty and juicy. I’ll try steak next time I come. Place was pretty quiet and not too many people there which is how I like it right now. My waitress was GREAT, I should’ve gotten her name for this review. I just know she had blonde-ish hair and about 20 colorful pens on her apron.
Estrella isssss the BEST waitress in the world ! Yes , the food is amazing and always so consistent but Estrella is one of the main reasons my coworkers and I come faithfully. She remembers exactly what we like , even down to the extra sauces. The service is fast , efficient and sooooo pleasant. I love it here ! The fact Estrella remembers our orders down to the very small details never ceases to amaze me , she pretty much comes to the table with our food before we even order.
The food is always great however they should invest in a money checker. Being accused of using counterfeit money puts a damper on the mood. Tried paying in cash and the manager on duty Clere said they weren’t going to accept the money that was given to them because they couldn’t verify if they were real or not (we checked the money with a bank after the ordeal and they were in fact real). Having a money checker cuts out any unnecessary strife between customers and management. Do not have an establishment if you can’t verify money. In the day of technology we understand there are credit cards, debit cards, Apple/Samsung pay but people still carry around cash so be prepared enough to verify that!
We were the first to arrive for the day and the place filled up quickly. Good sign. The Salsa was decent. Our waiter was super nice and on point with the menu. Super helpful cause my GF is a picky eater and she always wants to sub something out for another...ALWAYS..He was able to do that and it made her completly happy. Wait time wasnt long either. Food was DELICIOUS and very fresh tasting...full of color and if were ever back in that area...we will most definitely visit again. #GreatJobGuys Oh and I also forgot the Margarita she got was #PERFECTO ... Thanks A Millie...Great Lunch and Great prices.
Our waitress was top notch. She made sure we were well taken care of. The jalapeno margaritas were spot on. I had this great grilled chicken with fresh spinach salad- it was great. The 1st time I ordered a salad at a Mexican restaurant payed off!
I love Mexican food. I could eat it daily. We called in an order to go. We ordered a shrimp taco salad, two burrito meal. Two cheese enchilada meal, guacamole, and cheese dip.The items were placed in a bag haphazardly and it busted. I had to request another bag and rearrange the items myself. I requested certain toppings to come on the side of my taco salad. They were recorded this way on the ticket, but not put on the side of the dish. No crunch to my taco shell, a wet soggy mess. Some things are best enjoyed when hard. A taco salad shell is one of those things. I didn’t get the shredded cheese. I missed layers of flavor.I was charged for an extra burrito meal. Overall, a disappointment. I suggest you visit The Border. It’s a short hike from this place, but it has been the most consistent Mexican we can find.
