I've enjoyed the House Of Chan for many years. I usually get take out as I'm in the airline business and just want to get home to eat. The staff would always greet me on the phone or when I walked in to get my order. I can excuse the new staff for not knowing me but the food is terrible now! The last two orders have been overly salted. Several weeks ago, I ordered General Tso's Chicken. It was just..."eh" This order was for shrimp and lobster sauce. I ate one portion but then tossed the rest in the disposer! Apparently all of the staff is new. Normally on a Sunday evening, the parking lot is full and the dining room is packed. Last night, only two booths were occupied. There were a few to go orders waiting for pickup. The new owners won't be around much longer with this food! I won't be back. Now...where can I get good Chinese food?
My family has been going to House of Chan for many years - 30 plus. Our last two visits were not as excellent as those prior. I believe the restaurant may be under new ownership but I was not able to confirm it. Our last visit was on April 6, 2022. Service was excellent. My wife had the Cashew Chicken, which she found very good. Her vegetable soup was excellent but her spring rolls were definitely under par and not eaten. Tasted like something manufactured, thawed and served. Yuck! I had Hot and Sour soup, which had way too much pepper and not enough sour. I’ve had that soup numerous times there and this one was not as good as before. My egg roll was excellent albeit a little on the colder side. My biggest disappointment was the lemon chicken. I’ve had that dish multiple times there and was left a little disappointed several week ago during my previous visit. I decided to give it another chance to see if the last time was an isolated case. It was not. They definitely changed the recipe. The sauce is way too sweet - in fact, it was sweeter than my wife’s cashew chicken sauce. And please tell me - where is the lemon???? That dish used to have real lemon slices in it; it gave it the tartness expected when you order a “lemon” based dish. Please go back to Mrs Chan’s old recipes. Those awards on the wall become meaningless otherwise. Thank you.
House of ChanChinese restaurant in Cobb county very close to the Battery, Truist Park and I-285. Authentic Chinese food made by real Chinese people. I think the restaurant has been there for over 50 years now and managed by the kids of the original owners. Plenty of options. Relatively large servings. Friendly and polite staff. Plenty of parking most of the time.
I’ve been eating at House of Chan for years, and no matter what I order or how long it’s been since I’ve been there, the food is just incredible. I’ve eaten many of their specialties and much of their lunch menu, and can attest that you will not be disappointed!Tonight I decided to branch out and order items from the dinner menu that I normally skip over. The Moo Shu Pork was top quality, and quite possible the best I’ve ever had. The meat was flavorful and the vegetables were cooked but still had the right crunch. The Egg Fu Young - how have I never tried this?! If you like omelettes, this is a must try! And the egg rolls! Definitely homemade, large, and perfect filling. The staff are also incredibly kind and always a pleasure to speak to. Honestly I just can’t say enough great things about this restaurant; I continuously take new friends here and they are also blown away. Must visit!
Great, great Chinese food. Love the Kulu pork ( sweet and sour) cooked the original way. Great lemon chicken and Mongolian beef. Service is brisk and efficient. A must try… consistently good for many years.
Ordering online was easy and my food was ready on time. I ordered Hot and Sour soup which was delicious and the twice cooked chicken that did not disappoint on the spice or veggies.
What a great little place! Not flashy, on the corner, big and busy place. It's just the opposite, hidden away is a quaint little place, you'd never expect. Friendly personable atmosphere our food was fresh, light & made to order, even the fried wonton strips came out fluffy and hot!5☆ dinner date night! Get directions and get goin toHouse of Chan!
Wonderful, small family owned restaurant. My mother's office used to be very close to here and we started visiting this restaurant in the late 1980's. The food is always top flight, as well as the service. We always get the Lemon Chicken and Mongolian Beef. We live over an hour west of town, but we still hit Chan's up whenever we are up in that area. Much love from the Mabry Family!
We dont get to go often since we are in d'ville, but it is always worth the trip. Generous portions. Fresh vegatables and I love the eggs rolls. Especially when they add a touch of anise. Food is always fresh, hot and good. Wait staff polite and attentive. Our Chinese go to restaurant since Szechuan Village closed in our town.
A patient at my job mentioned this place and said the food was real good so I decided to try it out and YUM! I had the chicken with broccoli, this has just became my new few Chinese place. Definitely will be back!
