After a scenic boat ride on the Georgia Queen my wife and I were looking for a good place to eat on River St. We chose Spanky's and were glad we did. We ordered the Chicken fingers basket with Spuds.Food was great and the service was very timely. Best chicken fingers I have tasted not only in Savannah, but all of the other places we have visited.
Stopped in for a quick lunch. The food was great. My son had the chicken fingers with the honey horseradish sauce. I had blackened chicken and steamed veggies. The waitress asked if I wanted a sauce to dip my veggies in and I got the creamy horseradish. The interior was quite cool as you can tell it is an old building. The waitress saw me taking photos and told me one of the paintings was on a repurposed fence. Great food, service and location.
Pretty good food at this place. Service was nice and prices reasonable. Atmosphere was what you would expect. Cheeseburger and pizza very good. So was shrimp.
While walking along the waterfront, we stopped in for lunch. The chicken tenders were great along with he dipping sauce. Get the Spanky Spuds. They have the best flavor. Our waiter Mr. 2 + 3 was fantastic. I think he can work every job in the restaurant with ease. A fun dining experience.
I realize the Riverwalk area is expensive and I don't mind paying for good food with a great atmosphere. This place had neither. Unless you're a teenager that loves everything fried, this place can be skipped. First it took forty-five minutes to get our food. The server was very friendly and attentive at keeping our drinks filled while we waited. There was a lot of talking among the servers, and it was apparent they weren't happy with the kitchen staff. The prices are pretty high for their mediocre fast food type entrees. I can get chicken fingers of the same quality at a fast food restaurant for 80% less. I realize they invented chicken fingers....perhaps we got some of the original batch? The next time in Savannah I think we'll eat up on Congress.
Great service at the bar (Ashley), very personable and fast with drinks and food! If your every looking to stop and have a cocktail this place was great!
Wow, start off with a $2 rum and coke or a $3 bloody Mary. We had both. Very quick service by our ever hustling waitress. She even put our order in ahead of a large party. My wife got a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and loved it. Very large sandwich and plenty of fries. I got the fish and shrimp ? combo. This came with a large piece of fish, 10 shrimps, 2 hush puppies, cole slaw and Spanky spuds. I dare you to finish it all. I did. Very good prices here considering the location on the river. You won't be disappointed.
Absolutely loved the atmosphere in this place!!! As soon as we walked in the bartender made you feel like we were old friends. He got all his patrons talking to each other, which enhanced that friendship type experience. We had a Spanky's special pizza and enjoyed it. The others around us were commenting about how they were happy with their food too.
We were in Savanah, GA at the start of our vacation and staying on the historic riverfront. We turned to TA for a dinner choice. Since Spanky's touted itself as the originator of chicken fingers that we all like, we were drawn to this old historic eatery/pub on River St. We were welcomed by the bartender and got great service from Alexis or "Lex", as she introduced herself. We split nachos and a platter of 9 fingers. Both were great! We washed them down with some very good local draft beers. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. That's what vacations are all about, right?
We love going to Spanky’s on River street and always stop in for a meal when we are in Savannah. My family is addicted to the chicken fingers. I love the fried pickes as an appetizer. Reasonable prices for a family. and the service is always good. Definitely will be stopping in again real soon.
