This is a quaint spot that serves good food. The chicken was nice and juicy and their cabbage and greens on point. The ribs was such a treat..sweet and tender in every bite. Definitely want to try their oxtails next time.
Worst soul food I have ever had! Mac and cheese was weird and nasty, greens were bland straight out of a can, mashed potato’s and gravy was soupy mush. Chicken was the only thing worth eating.
Food was horrible... at best. My sister and I were both disappointed. We spent more time discussing with the family next to us our shared disgust. Six people and four states represented at those two tables and nobody enjoyed their meal. 85% of the meals were discarded. The fried chicken was dry, the smothered turkey was flavorless, the Mac and cheese was weird, the yams were definitely canned, the gravy tasted like some type of paste like substance and the greens were not good. The service wasn't all that hot either. One lady touched money then turned right around and touched food.If I'm ever in Savannah again, I'll be sure to go elsewhere!
Extremely disappointing. Damn, I really wanted to love this place. Walking in, I thought Sisters stood for things I value: a locally owned, independent business, trying to make it off the beaten path. Then I saw the food in the cafeteria-style hot trays - not a really appetizing view, especially the liver. Yes, these were the legendary soul-food options I was seeking: oxtails, turkey necks, smothered pork chop, ribs, collards, sweet potatoes, etc, but everything just looked visually unappealing. The food was not inedible but I would never eat at this place again - the food was boring, flavorless, tough - uninspired. The service was slow and disinterested. The server didn't make any suggestions or say anything other than they were out of mac&cheese. There was only person in front of us at the cash register and I believe we waited 5 minutes for them to wrap up simple 1 person order. When I went to wash my hands, the server pointed to a bottle of hand sanitizer. Everything is served in disposable Styrofoam containers with plastic utensils - so much waste. The dining area was uninspired, just basic long office tables and chairs. This place has so much potential to be some place special, but when I reflect on my experience at Sisters, I just come up with one word - uninspired.
My husband and I was craving some good vegetables and I being a google person (and loving to try new foods) found Sisters. I am so glad that I did. The place is small but, packed with great flavor. We knew once we saw the crowd that we were at the right place. Once I saw “auntie “ come from the back I felt like I was back home?. I had the hamburger steak patty, with cabbage and mac and cheese and collards WITH a slice (nice size slice!) so if I dose off to sleep, it’s not my fault ?♀️ ?. I would have given them 5 stars but ( I came for the fried chicken) they only had dark meat and I only eat wing’s and hubby likes breast. Thank you all again. I also liked how the “youngins” were working the front… great work ethics.
Food is garbage. I got a pork chop sandwich, took way to long and it was not good at all. Building looks dirty and smells terrible.
Not a big country food eater but the food was good. The young lady behind the counter was nice and laughed at my jokes. This was the first time I tasted mustard based BBQ. It was a treat. The ribs were teander and tasty. I had the corn bread and macncheese. Both were good. They has wide selection of food. Sweet to was good. Brought home some peace cobbler and it was a treat.
When this restaurant was recommended, I was looking forward to a great dinner. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It took me a while to write this review because I wanted to be tactful. So, most restaurants like this have the main staples, right? You know, like macaroni and cheese, yams cooked from scratch and some good green beans. I was out of luck. The menu had oxtails and steaks, but there was none. I should have left after that, but I wanted some seemingly good homemade food. Next, the green beans were from a can which isn't an issue if they are seasoned and doctored up to taste good, but they were bland. All in all, after eating my meal, I was left unsatisfied. The cornbread was good, though.
Mouthwatering favors and lots of choices to enjoy. They pile up the food in the containers and are not stingy at all. The peach cobbler was fresh and delicious. I had the Ox tail, rice, spinach and sweet potatoes. My wife had the fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, lima beans and green peas. Corn bread was complementary for both of us. While dining, we had a chat with another couple vacationing in Savannah and they also expressed how delicious the food was. They ordered the friend checks. I wished I had more room in my belly to try other foods as well. The only reason I wasn't able to give this place a 5 star is because it wasn't very clean in the dining room and the washroom.
My wife and I were visiting Savannah for the first time on our way to Florida from northern Virginia. We randomly tried food from Sisters and were blown away. We loved it so much we came back again the next night for dinner and I complimented staff on the quality of the food. When I came here to write a review, I was surprised by some of the negative reviews. I was expecting much higher reviews! My wife and I both agreed that this was the best fried chicken and peach cobbler that we’ve ever had! The smothered ribs and hamburger steak were also top notch. I also appreciated the “hole in the wall” atmosphere. Lastly, I thought you got a lot of food for the money. Highly recommend!
