We arrived before the ice cream shop opened and there was already a line. They opened promptly at 11. Service was quick and friendly, they will provide samples.
If you like ice cream, you simply cannot visit Savannah without going to Leopold's. We experienced Leopold's for the first time over 10 years ago. Still the best! The recipes have been in the family for over a 100 years, since 1919! The ice cream is creamy and decadent, and the many flavors are authentic. If they say it's peppermint, it is! And it's always delicious. We have tried their various coffee ice creams, dark chocolate (the July 2022 special), coconut, lemon, birthday cake, honey almond, Savannah socialite, peppermint, and more! They are ALL GOOD! I'm not kidding! We try to eat healthy, yet when we go to Savannah, we pack it in, we try to hit Leopold's 2, maybe 3 times each day…double scoops, thank you!
Woman on plane said Leopolds ice cream is must have on Savannah visit. Stood in line for 1 hour on concrete sidewalk in brutal stagnant heat. Employee came around with water for waiting customers. Wait was horrendous, but I stayed because woman on plane said it was best ice cream around. Once inside, 10 min wait in AC made you begin to forget trauma of wait outside. So many selections, then back outside to oppressive heat....was it worth it???? No one in Savannah will tell you. Truly can not get a firm answer, and that is the draw and frankly the intrigue of this place. You have to decide for yourself. My rating is exactly that...midline for you to formulate your own opinion.

Just a cool place to enjoy the best ice cream in Georgia. Friendly staff, and quick service. Worth the wait. Don't be scared of the line, as it moves fairly quickly
Overrated and overpriced. Don’t waste your time waiting in line. One hour wait definitely NOT worth it. Grocery store quality. Get your ice cream down along the River and relax. Don’t fall for all the hype!
First time ever in Savannah. Waited in a long line in the heat, but oh was it worth it! Hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had. We had it again in the airport waiting for our flight. I’ve been thinking about the butter pecan since we returned home. Thankfully they ship! My husband surprised me with Leopold’s for my birthday!!
The ice-cream and experience were worth the wait. We thought rain would deter people from joining the line. We were wrong! The staff did make sure we had ice water available while we waited. Once we got inside and were able to order we were served promptly with generous servings of creamy, creamy ice cream. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the vegan vanilla icecream is. I don't tolerate dairy well. It was a nice treat.
This was worth the wait! My daughter loves chocolate. So people told us it’s not worth the wait. Wrong! She was in heaven.
Yum! They have really unique flavors and they’re generous with servings. The lines are long but worth it ?. Supposedly they invented Tutti Frutti? Haven’t tried it but their other flavors are amazing
