This was our first experience since the place was bought out and was changed from Sweet Melissa's. To be honest, we were unsure as we have so many memories of late night deliciousness from the past and weren't sure what to expect from Kay's. Maybe it was the change of names and no longer being associated with the classic Allman Bros song, but I must admit I was being judged preemptively. I was wrong. The food was better than ever. The inevitable long line moved surprisingly fast. We were pleased there was security present which is a must in downtown these days. My only wish is that there was seating. You used to be able to cram in to a few limited tables or pile downstairs for some late night live music. We ate our enormous and phenomenally tasty slices perched on the filthy sidewalk, tucked into a neighboring stores window front. But then again, that's part of the experience and can't say that we minded. If you've never been, it's a must for last night munchies.
I have been eating Kays pizza since it was Sweet Melissas. The pizza is usually good but it was very dry and too chewy this go round.
If you're sober don't go over lol. Pizza has no sauce, very dry. No clue what seasoning is on the bottom of the slice but no bueno. If you Can't smell, can't taste, can't see this is the place to be!!
Great pizza, much like NY and open late when everything is still happening. Go here... Remember this place...
Quick service but the pizza was not that great... Large slice but not much flavor and very greasy.
Kay's Pizza, wonderful pizza place, new name(was Sweet Melissa's) but same great pizza, unmatched. You can get yourself the large like you see here or even bigger....great hang out or take it to one of the squares nearby
NY style pizza. Any toppings, any sizes. Definitely a late night hot spot. Jump in, grab a slice, or more. Good service, and pizza is great.
It's solid for a quick bite. Greasy as can be! Lot of oil in that slice. Not amazing by any means, but I'm from Chicago , so my POV might be warped. For a drunk late night slice, it's prob just right. $9 for 2 slices is a little much, but it is hot a ready on the fly. So there you have it.
The people that work at Kay's are so kind. At the same time the pizza is horrible. Nothing about it is tasty. Not even the cheese. Just not good. We ordered pepperoni. ??
Young girl behind the counter was extremely rude. $50 later for pizza that had gooey dough, was rolled up and stuck together, thrown into and melting through styrofoam containers. Picture does it justice. I feel bad adding to the negative comments as the owner seems to always reply respectfully but maybe if the young lady had not had such an attitude it would have made the experience a little better.
