For the most part, it was a good/average dinner. My husband and I ate here with our 2 sons ages 14 and 5…. Our 14 year old loves sushi and Japanese food- our 5 year old is a more “picky” eater. We arrived on a Tuesday night around 7pm, were able to seat ourselves since it was not crowded (only like 4 other tables were occupied). Our drink order was immediately obtained… my husband and I both ordered a combination dinner plate, salad with ginger and miso soup along with a sushi roll to share, oldest son ordered just a sushi roll, younger son we ordered the teriyaki chicken for (not a variety/large selection for children)… soup and salad arrived, good- but the lettuce was really wilted… the combination dinners and childs chicken teriyaki arrived within 5 minutes later, but- the sushi rolls were like 25 minutes later… like time for dessert… by the time the sushi rolls arrived- our 14 year old had already eaten the 5 year olds dinner (our 5 year old refused to eat the rice and chicken- no other options available), the 14 year old was hungry… my husband and I were completely finished with our meals and ready for the ticket by the time our sushi rolls arrived…. Then, the meal cost was $79 without tip…. Everyone was friendly though- the food was good, but basic… for the cost, we should have went to a hibachi grill style Japanese place and enjoyed entertainment of cooking in front of you. But, it seemed clean and easy to get to.
I absolutely love their food and the service but im leaving 4 stars to get the merchant's attention for my feedback on their online menu for both direct orders and doordash. The menus can he confusing and i usually order yakiniku steak, which i usually call in, but i sometimes am unable to pick up the food for lunch because of work. The menus should be more simplified and allow the customers to use the note section to add their preferences if its not on the menu. On the direct order menu, i order the yaki niku entree via the sides, ie. Side fried rice, side yaki niku steak, side beansprouts. On the doordash menu, there isnt an option for sides and the fried rice entrees only have the ribeye steak option. On another note, yall run out of the beansprouts quite often and its a popular dish so when i order that as a side, its a 50/50 chance ill get it.
No broccoli in veggies, no mushrooms in mushroom soup. Shrimp tempura was cold. Really dissatisfied because Kan Pai on Chatham Parkway is amazing.
My husband and I absolutely love Kanpai and since moving to Wilmington Island we go at least once if not twice per week!!!! The Dynamite roll is my absolute FAVORITE right now along with anything that has spicy tuna in it!! The crab wontons are everything! Absolutely a must get!!! For entrees I love the tofu with fried rice, it is so delicious, my 14 month old loves it too!!!! The hot sake is yummmmmy! Servers are very nice and friendly as well! We love this place and are so happy to be regulars now that we live so close!
Mediocre at best, sushi was nothing special too much sweet sauce everywhere ramen was nothing great either won’t be back the Japanese restaurant super taste is 10x better!
Overpriced. Take out boxes are actually smaller than they used to be and so are the portions. However the price tag has gone up. We got two orders of hibachi shrimp and two California rolls and it was $50.00. All the restaurants are just getting insanely priced. Guess we will be rolling our own sushi soon. ?
I had extremely high hopes for Kanpai, due to my boyfriend's recommendation. We sat ourselves in the back room, and our drink orders were taken fairly quickly. However that's the last good thing about our visit. Three other tables (all parties of 4+) were sat and served before our waitress came back with our drinks. I'd like to say the rest of the night went smoothly. My boyfriend's dinner came out only a few minutes after our appetizer and he was done eating by the time I got my first dish of sushi, which was only a third of what I had ordered. I ended up getting the rest of my order in 15 minute increments. Now I won't hold this against them too much, they did have a technical error with the kitchen printer, but the combination of everything just did not make this an enjoyable experience.
Everything was great! Seaweed salad w/cucumbers, kimchi, miso soup, sushi rolls. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Hope to return soon for their 1/2 off rolls on Wednesdays
It was good. They were busy which is great to see. Food was good but some of the apps were not hot. Staff is very friendly. Overall very good.
The sushi was on point. The food is fresh and it's always busy. In town for vacation with a friend and it was worth the trip to this little gem. They have the best seaweed I’ve ever had. They have a few vegan options.
