The Food was AWESOME!!!! Plus our Waitress was on POINT!!!
The wings were the only thing good there the service was horrible and food was nasty , cold , they tried to warm up crawfish in the microwave. They should be shut down , the kitchen looked nasty and bathroom was even worse .
Great food, great service, and excellent beignets for a fair price!
Truly enjoyed our meal at Hueys in Savannah. We had a short wait 15 minutes which was awesome considering I’ve waited an hour to get in a couple years ago. It’s a cozy spot right on the river front with great views of the ships going by. Great service- our waiter had the utmost in patience since I have some very finicky eaters. The kid menu was appropriate with chicken fingers and grilled cheese- I have a young part time vegetarian so we have to have grilled cheese. But for the grown folks it was about the shrimp po boys and catfish tonight. We did side items of gumbo, fries and red beans and rice. The gumbo was pretty good. If your from New Orleans you know that no one does it better than your own house but this gumbo got a thumbs up from my Nola expert. The red beans on the other hand need a little work. They must be from a can… no way these were homemade. They were decent at best. They were too firm. I was truly surprised by the catfish!!! Lord! It was fried perfectly, crispy, flaky but not hard. And the fish wasn’t gamey at All! I’m always a little hesitant to eat catfish because I don’t care for the gamey flavor profile. But these catfish fingers were beautiful. They looked like chicken fingers and just melted in my mouth. We ate ours with a remoulade sauce that we requested. As far as cocktails I had the Southern Peach Long Island iced tea. It was smooth, sweet and had just enough bite to get your attention. Loved it. Finally Beignets!!! Soft, fluffy, light, sweet and just melted in my mouth! I poured some Carmel sauce on mine and it was a perfect end to a fantastic meal! It’s worth the wait for me.
Just don’t do it! Unless, you want dive bar food at restaurant prices. We came in, they sat us in the bar area in which our table was about to fall off the pole. When I asked to move they said other people complained of that too. Then, they tell us to just pick a table and move. After that it took out server 15 minutes to acknowledge that we were even there even though she was not working the bar and had 2 tables. After that, I made the mistake or ordering steak. She never asked me how I’d like it cooked. When I finally flagged her down I told her I wanted it medium rare and she said ok. The picture shows what I got. The place was gross, not clean and unprofessional. My boyfriend ate his meal and then waited before she even came over to check on us, his was gross too. When I told her what was wrong she took the plate that that was the last we say if her. Needless to say it was a glorified dive bar that tried to serve food. I don’t like being that person, I get things happen but as someone who has worked in multiple restaurants, in a touristy town (st. Augustine).. this was awful
We enjoyed our meal at Huey's. It's in a neat location and the food was great. We would go back, for sure.
We enjoyed the pasta jambalaya and pasta pesto. We did save room for the beignets and we are glad we did. Heads up on Savannah ID policy for being served. All drinks ordered must present an ID, even if you're 59 years old! Everyone must have an ID.
Been in Savannah for a bit. Started at Hueys for breakfast the first day. Have regretted not going there each day because so far, this was the best place. Beignets are fabulous. Selection and menu have something for everyone. I had catfish and eggs. Loved it. We will be back tomorrow.
First off let me say, there is no outdoor seating. The second floor seating in the pictures is NOT for Huey's. I planned on eating here based off of the outdoor seating, but even after finding out it was for a different restaurant, we still proceeded to eat here. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and catfish fingers for appetizers that were pretty good. For my entree I got the shrimp and grits which were delicious. However, there was one shrimp in my dish that was still fully shelled that I had to spit out, but the rest were fine. The beignets were okay. They just seemed more like funnel cake. Our waitress was so sweet and polite. Fun place to sit by the window and people watch while eating some good food.
Are we didn’t mind getting on a waitlist for 45 minutes to an hour but it took significantly longer than that called back to the restaurant. We ended up being seated at the same terrible table near the front door that have been open when we were there originally to sign up for the waitlist. Our waitress took our order and we never saw her again until it was time to deliver a check. She never checked on us for drinks or if we needed anything. Food was very average at best. I ordered the oyster Poboy and it came with five fried oysters and a pile of lettuce and sub marginal french fries. For $25 I expected it to have more flavor . My husband had the crawfish étouffée. It was very gluey and could’ve come out of a can. In the end delivered us the wrong check and we could’ve paid that got enough cheaper if we were dishonest. All in all very disappointing experience.
