While visiting Rome on a Sunday afternoon, we couldn't find anything downtown that wasn't serving brunch. We remembered The Shrimp Boat being good years ago so we went there. They have a very nice covered patio that was perfect for sitting outside with our Chihuahuas (who sat in their stroller by the table). We both ordered the Noah's Ark - 2 fish, 2 shrimp, 2 oysters, 2 scallops, 1 deviled crab, fries and slaw. Hubby got my oysters and I got his shrimp. Everything was deep fried. Everything tasted wonderful. The fish was very good, as was the deviled crab. Even the fries were cooked just right. This was the perfect finish to our day in Rome and we will definitely go back, probably sooner rather than later! And the pups enjoyed all the attention the staff showed them. Highly recommend to seafood lovers traveling with their pups!
My catfish dinner was not very good at all. The catfish had very thick batter on it and was overcooked, hard. The hushpuppies were overcooked and hard. I could have killed Goliath with them. The corn on the cob wouldn't have had any taste if it weren't for the butter. The coleslaw is the only thing that was decent. I won't ever eat there again. I paid over $13 for a $5 meal.
I have absolutely loved this restaurant since I was a little girl. Even up to earlier this year. My daughter and I ordered to go today and it was awful! My Philly cheesesteak sandwich had a different meat on it which was dry, the cheese was only at the bottom of the bun and bellpeppers were diced and just thrown on. My and my daughters fries were cold and the breading on her fish wasn't even on the fish, it was barely sticking to it. The red velvet cake was very dry and a very small piece. We pay good money so we'd like good quality food. I was so disappointed because my daughter had never been and her first impression sucked. The food went to the garbage as we ate very little of it. I hope today was just a bad day but it really should be the same every day. Hope they get it together like they used to.
This place is always busy so I thought it would be good I was wrong.Long wait but everything is cooked to order so understandable. As for the food the chili is not worth the money for the small size, hush puppies were dryer than the sahara, fish was dull & bland very obvious it had no seasoning, the chicken also had no seaon other than salt, best thing about the meal was size & the sweet tea, not the best tea but better than the food. I would not even recommend this place to Hindus looking to take a break from fasting.
The sea food boil is not worth it. 3 of my 6 shrimp still had the mudd vein. Sausage was cold. The wife got the fried fish, it was good. It's not the cleanest place to eat. Friendly service
The shimp boat has always been a favorite of mines.....I was told that it is under new management...which explains why the food has lost that touch that I so use to love.....the service is quicker, but the food is definitely a thumbs down....I have received burnt chicken, undercooked fish, hard cold fries and no empathy....
Huge 9 pce fried Oyster Dinner with Baked Potato, Slaw and 2 hushpuppies. The Oysters were so large, that it took 3+ bites to finish each one. Delicious, tangy dip for Oysters. All that food for $11. Where can you get that quality plus quantity of seafood for this price? Nowhere. It's a MUST TRY. A+++
What a wonderful change!!! Food is awesome and service is much better and fast, which is awesome for us that go eat there on our lunch hour.
Great food and you get a lot of it. Staff are friendly and helpful. Takes a little time, but always get your food fresh and hot.
I love this place, however, I didn't enjoy my food today! The slaw was really dry, it's usually juicy and kind of sweet, the fish didn't taste as good and my sweet tea tasted like it had been sitting for a while, it was very watered down. Maybe it was just a bad day or time I'm not sure but I was disappointed.
