The Carey Hilliard’s in my area closed years ago and I was excited when my sister informed me that there was one not too far from home! On our way back from visiting Savannah we visited this Carey Hilliard’s and was not disappointed. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was very cordial and helpful. We ordered our meals and the turn around time was very quick. Everyone in my group was happy with what they ordered and even walked out with carry outs. The food was really good and the service was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again soon.
Food was wonderful ? my waitress was extremely pleasant and professional. I ended up getting my meal Togo cause of an unruly child that the parents didn't feel need to control or parent. Clean and inviting place.
Our first trip to Carey Hilliards in Savannah GA. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. Onion rings were the best we ever had. Club sandwich, steak, cat fish all great.
Love their onion rings, mother got the fried flounder with pasta salad and hush puppies. It was a large piece of flounder and she said it was cooked perfectly. We ate inside and our waitress was wonderful, the people who work there are always so nice.
Went there last night; it was absolutely awful. The only thing that was good was the friendly cashier (part host) & our waitress, McKenna. When we first walked in we waiting for about 5 minutes with no one even acknowledging us. Then one of the workers decided to start yelling about how she clocked out and she’s not hosting, very awkward. The cashier/now host, came and apologized & sat us. Our waitress was great, she was friendly and provided wonderful service. Her management absolutely failed her. She was clearly very busy and from where we were sat we could see where the food got set under the heat warmers waiting to be ran. The manager I’m assuming she was in plainclothes, was standing by our food & to go food not doing much but talking to the workers while our food sat there for 10 minutes while our waitress was running around busy. As a manager, she should have stepped up and helped out. I watched our waitress grab our food and they had messed something up so she returned it before it ever reached our table. Which the manager who sat it out should have noticed ?. We finally got our food and everything was cold/Luke warm. The only thing I actually could eat was the Mac and cheese. I got the bbq and it was covered in ketchup with some seasonings, meat was dry from sitting under the heat lamps and just not edible. I would never go again. I’m just grateful we did at least have an amazing and attentive waitress.
I am giving this place 2 stars because our server was good. Unfortunately, the food was not! If you like your food seasoned this is not the place for you! We ordered the seafood combination. It was NOT seasoned. The hush puppies were not good. The Mac and cheese was cold and tight. The Brunswick stew had to be the last of the pot because it was just soupy tomatoes. The Cole slaw was the only thing we enjoyed. My palate was left distraught!
I Love Carey Hillard's. This is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Everything is good. The service is exceptional. Everyone treats you like family. I've also held several birthday dinners here buffet style. They will hold your cake for you when you do that. They also have a drive-in service where you can get your food to go or eat in your car.
This place honestly just was not good. My son got the chicken tenders and they had black areas on them. My two oldest got the BBQ sandwich and they barely touched it. It had super strange coloring and looked like it maybe once had cheese on it that was removed. The worst thing about this place was our waiter. He was EXTREMELY confused about the menu and about what couod or couldn't be ordered. We had or food less than 30 seconds and he asked if we wanted boxes before we had ever started eating. He then asked what hotel we were staying in that night (uh stranger danger). He forgot part of our order and then when I mentioned it he kept asking over and over again if I forgave him. He honestly made me and my children feel extremely uncomfortable. We would of done better to just go to the McDonald's in the parking lot next to us.
We waited to be seated, not because it was crowded, but because the hostess was off somewhere and no one else offered to seat us. Finally, she arrived and we had a wonderful waitress. My wife had the salmon and I had the smaller pulled pork. We both declared our meals to be good and would return if in the area again some day. Paying also was somewhat problematic with a line starting and no one taking care of it until one, apparently senior, employee took over at another cash register for those paying by card. Cash payers were taken by the original cashier. That sped up the queue.
Very good dining. Many choices on the menu. Debbie is an awesome waitress.
