It's been years since I've been to goldens. The food was tasty. But something must have been wrong with the warmers, because our food was not hot at all. It was basically room temperature. Pretty disappointing
Fantastic comfort food excellent home cooking just like mama's cooking I had the meatloaf my wife tried the chicken and vegetables every thing we had was wonderful
I like Goldens very much especially the banana pudding and boneless chicken. I just think the prices are a little expensive. Like $12 for a quart of banana pudding is really expensive. Lastly why did you close on Saturdays? I don't understand this.
Good country style food served cafeteria style. You seat yourself after going through line to get your food and drink. The staff was polite but not truly friendly. I did go at 7 pm so it could have been they were tired from being friendly all day. The banana pudding was my favorite. I should have gone with sweet tea to drink but instead choose Mr pibb. I'll know better next time. That being said, Goldens is good enough for repeat visits :)
First visit. Impressive assortment of Southern cooking. Everything I tried was just like my grandmother made. Good chicken, good vegetables. My wife will definitely advocate to come back in the future. This is her kind of restaurant. I would highly recommend this location!

Stopped in for lunch, the staff are all friendly and the restaurant is clean. Had 4 fried chicken legs and collard greens. 3 of the 4 chicken legs were undercooked and you had to tear at the meat to separate it from the bone. The seasoning on the chicken tasted like flour and season salt. It was very salty. Surprisingly, I had never had salty collard greens until today. Seems the #1 seasoning used here is salt. I added 20% tip on to my bill thinking it would be shared by all employees. Found out that the tips are shared by the staff behind the line. The floor busser cleaning the tables does not get any of that tip. Be sure to leave money for the table busser. Sadly, I would suggest passing by and trying another establishment on the square.
Every one enjoyed their meal. Roast beef and vegetable plates. The corn bread is real old school. Lima beans, collards, yams, carrot salad, macaroni and cheese, hash brown casserole, black eyed peas, were all enjoyed.
The food was amazing! Home cooked southern dishes. Great prices too. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I love this place.
Meatloaf was not so good and the collards from the can was horrible. That was my first time there and will give them the benefit of the doubt. I will return for a different meal and hopefully it will be better.
