Super friendly stuff.The bread is authentic and I love it.In addition I get the Sauerbraten and Bratwurst.Also fantastic and authentic.Small but fine selection in the shop.Overall a very good place if you want authentic German food.
Great pastries (the pistachio cream ring and the esterhazy are a must try). The pastrami was wonderful (if you're looking for Americanized and overstuffed go to Jason's deli, this is made like it's supposed to be made), and the smoked salmon sandwich was delicious. It's our new favorite place!

I used to come here in college and it was always amazing. Went back recently and the quality definitely hasn't gone down. Amazing bakes goods, sandwiches, definitely the best German pretzels I have ever had, and the staff is always very efficient and friendly.
Although I have always passed by this shop, today I decided to stop in and it was worth it. Lots of authentic German cakes, breads, soups, and meats. I went with a German Brat and some baked goods. Yum yum!
Atlanta is short of good, authentic bakeries - you know the kind you grew up with somewhere else. Bernhard's offers lots of German-style pastries and breads, and also has a great selection of European market items and deli offerings. Trust me people - it's a great bakery. It's not going to impress you if your idea of a bakery is SmallCakes and Crumbl. If you're in to German food and pastries you've got to try it.
I bought my employees lunch here and everyone enjoyed the food. It has been years since I have had German Potato Salad and theirs is very good. The sandwiches were also all very good and prepared very well. The staff is friendly and the line moved quickly. They also have a great selection of imported chocolates and other sweets and a freezer full of soups and other prepared dishes.
My first visit...I'm overwhelmed. I wanted a bite of everything. One day, I'll complete that. If you haven't stopped in...what are you waiting for? Here's your invite. They have liquor chocolates, teas, soups, butter, pastries, hot and cold sandwiches and so much more packed into this place. Sandwiches are made to order and the kitchen closes 30 mins before closing time. Enjoy
Great service to go along with the fantastic sweets and breads. My go to spot for a good loaf or pretzels. In terms of sweets, the blueberry vanilla danish and those little chocolate mounds they keep in the rotating display (sorry, don't know the name. I just point and say, "gimme") are top tier. Bernhard also seems like a cool guy based on my limited interactions with him. The best bakery I've been to in the Atlanta area, and there's some good ones.
Great place to go for German bread and Authentic German treats. We came from SC to visit but now that we found Bernhard's we will find the time to get back more frequently. You will enjoy coming for Lunch too.
