Why was the fried rice so dry and hard to swallow? Food was mildly tasty and def not fresh. I ordered from ubereats and I saw a shady $9 adjustment added to my total. I also didnt like they didn't specify their broccoli sauce was white not traditional brown. Shrimp was mushy and overcooked. 2 stars cause the portions were generous. I feel as though they have potential but are cutting corners on quality.
Big NO! Out of towners beware. Something's not right with these reviews. The protein in my house special taste like they were going bad. Chicken didn't taste like chicken- foul smell fill your senses as you chew. Beef was hard and chewy. Rice lacked flavor (not fried). Wings unbattered and tasteless. Nothing was fresh. Overpriced and charged extra for hot sauce. Trashed it all. Awful.

Before the change of owners the Mandarin had great quality. Now the dishes were not good. The fried shrimp batter was still soft and raw and I told the owner and he bold faced told me that’s how their fried shrimp was lol. Very straight faced. It was so bold I couldn’t even argue I just laughed and told my family we never coming back. Maybe it was a bad day but damn at least make the order right if your going to take our money. Google and Yelp exists…
Very good Americanized Chinese food (that's not an insult), set in a fun atmosphere. The mandarin chicken was top notch, the food was fresh, crisp and well seasoned. I was there on an evening that they were short staffed, but the waitress somehow ma aged to do everything with a smile. When in Macon it's one of my go-to places.
I order from here at least once a week. ALWAYS great food with the exception of the last couple of times. The soups are salty and the beef in the house fried rice was dry... like it was old. I will continue to order from them because everything else is always top notch!!
My wife and I pass through Macon, Ga about once a year. We always make a point to have dinner at The Mandarin Chinese Restaurant. This is the way Chinese restaurants used to be. The food is always spectacular with a large menu to select from. The service is excellent. The prices are unbelievably low and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful with gorgeous etched glass and paintings everywhere. Don’t miss it.
The food is excellent. The staff is mediocre at best. They are short staffed for sure. However there is no communication from the servers that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
Ordered takeout. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was not good. It was chewy and grisly. The crab angles were good.
Been going to this place for years and it's always a consistently positive experience! Delicious, fresh food. Great portions for the price and service is fantastic, even with the short-staffing. Best Chinese in Macon!
