Edit: restaurant leadership reached out promptly to explore our experience and continued to follow-up. A refund has been offered. Rating increased to 4 based upon the response of leadership.Odd dinner, although somewhat yummy. Stopped in for what we hoped would be a nice dinner, it might have been if the server wasn’t simply annoyed by our sheer presence. The manager even openly rolled his eyes at our teenagers when they asked for drink refills. The smoked tuna appetizer tasted like they made it from canned tuna, do not recommend! The potstickers were nice! Although the filling wasn’t any different than your random Chinese take-out restaurant. For kiddos would recommend the grilled chicken and rice over the fried chicken, it came out dripping with grease and obviously old grease by the way it stunk!!!The curried chicken ramen was the blandest curry I’ve ever had, would not recommend! The lamb chops were sooooooo over cooked they remained untouched on our table. The Dan Dan was the only saving grace of the meal, it was divine!!!!! However I should note when order as “Dan Dan” and not the correct pronunciation of “Don Don” the waitress took great pleasure in very loudly correcting my guest, made it super awkward at the table. For reference we came in on a Friday night at 5:30pm, with a reservation. It wasn’t busy but we were certainly an inconvenience.
Had tried several times to dine here. They seem to have lots of private parties where they close the restaurant to the public. Finally got in. Not a huge menu, but they do well with the items they have. Ramen was very good. You can build your own or choose a house made one. Prices are kind of high. Zues was nice, he was our server.
Kinjo had been on my list for a while. We finally made it this past Saturday and it did not disappoint. The food was great and enjoyed by the whole group, including the kids. I had the Duck Confit ( pictured ) and I definitely recommend trying it unless you are going with the ramen. Great service as well.
Amazing atmosphere and food with very friendly service. The Dan Dan entree was phenomenal, and their house made iced green tea sweetened with honey was a perfect match. Highly recommend!
My girlfriend and I traveled a couple of hours to dine here for my birthday. I was impressed. Unique atmosphere with a fine dining flair, and the food was delicious! Try the ramen or the lamb ribs - you won’t regret it. The staff were very friendly and attentive to the last drink, despite how late we stayed. The owner stopped by our table to chat and surprised us with a birthday treat. Very cool! Thanks for making our night special. Will definitely be coming back.
TLDR: The Tonkotsu Ramen was the most disappointing aspect of the entire meal. The scallops on top of the grits with the sauces on the side were pretty okay, except for whatever was making it taste sweet. The buns were "ok". The cocktail was expensive for the little bit I got.The entire point of me and my wife coming here was for the ramen. Usually, we would drive the 2 hours from Warner Robins to Atlanta, just for the food. Unfortunately, we will have to keep making that drive. I was hoping that Kinjo's Kitchen would help eliminate that drive. Why I Disliked The Ramen:To start, the broth tasted like water, oil, lots of salt and nothing else. There was little to no flavor. Furthermore, the meat looked more like pulled pork (it was actually duck meat). I didn't mind the pickled onions and everything else added to the ramen. I'm just very, very disappointed that the base of the ramen was THAT bad. It was like drinking gourmet salt water. The eggs were okay. The noodles were pretty good; they were springy and firm.I was hoping for a broth that was drinkable, to the point where I could empty the entire bowl.I left pretty disappointed. If Kinjo fixes how the broth, then I could possibly recommend and keep coming back. The Scallops:This was probably the best thing I ate here. The only problem I had with it was the sweet-tasting flavor profile I kept getting from it. The (3) scallops are served on top of grits with a green and red sauce on the sides. There are also bits of onion and red bell pepper (?) on top of the scallops. I usually don't eat grits, but this dish was actually pretty good, besides the sweet taste I kept getting. The Bao:The buns were made with duck meat and not pork meat. While this in itself is not an issue, the duck tasted pretty bland. It's like all they did was lightly season the duck meat and didn't use any type of marinade or sauce. To add on, I mostly tasted the pickled onions and scallions that were on top of the bun. The flavor of the vegetables overpowered the actual food that it was trying to accompany. The Cocktail:It was okay. I got something I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy and I'm not really going to judge it. People make cocktails differently and I still enjoyed what I ordered. However, it was a pretty expensive cocktail for the amount I got, in my opinion.Lastly, I don't think the food was worth the price. If I wanted to spend that much on food, I would rather keep making the drive to Atlanta. At least there the ramen is good.
Kinjos is our favorite place to go eat in Macon! The food is phenomenal!! They have amazing cocktails and bourbon selection. Great atmosphere for a date night or group dinner. And the service is nothing less than perfect. Definitely a must try.
Love coming here every chance I get! The menu is constantly updating, so you never have to worry about being bored with the options available. To go along with that, there is always a new cocktail to try. The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is always friendly and attentive.
First time eating at Kinjo, which appears to be an American version of a Japanese sushi/ramen restaurant. Great concept, however not well executed imo.Ate there on a weekend night and was not impressed by my Tonkotsu "smoked duck leg" ramen bowel. It was subpar overall, and not as described in the online menu. See attached photos. (The one with the egg is from the online menu.) The "6 minute soy-marinated egg" was left off my serving, and then upon request given to me ice cold on a plate. Also, there were no menu described "crispy brussels" that I could detect. There were other issues I could address in this review, however the ramen bowl prompted me to write. Hopefully, my experience was the product of Covid short staffing, supply chain issues, etc., and nothing more.
Great experience here with excellent service. Food creativity was on point and the appetizers were good. The ramen was excellent…initially. As it cooled so did the appeal so eat quickly. Since I was on a date I was eating slowly so I didn’t finish. The soaked deviled eggs are fantastic. The desserts were also very memorable. Get one.So it’s great for dates and good food and right in the heart of downtown.
