Food is awesome and everyone is super nice!
Excellent dinner!! The pimento cheese fritters with pepper jelly were the PERFECT start.. hot, rich, and oozing with cheese.. the sweet spice of the jelly was an palette pleasing addition and complemented the fritters perfectly. Next- the crawfish meat- sooooo delicious, blackened was my choice- and it was everything that I could have wanted and more!! The seasoning and the dipping sauce was just the right amount of flavor- the meat was tender and juicy and oh so good! For my entree, I got cold boiled shrimp with a baked potato (butter, sour cream, and chives), and hush puppies. It was also very good. Sweet tea- delicious! I’m craving it again as I wrote this.. ?
Scallops…..If there were a zero I would’ve selected it.Although I highly recommend many of their dishes, I will say … avoid the scallops!! 2/2 times that we have ordered were sand filled (not properly cleaned by standard for ingestion). The first time we ordered we gave the scallop preparation the benefit of the doubt, however given it’s the second order I would suggest retraining the staff on how to clean scallops properly. We threw it in the trash, was completely inedible, waste of money.
This is a small country style restaurant where regulars come to get a square meal. I was there for the dinner special which is good for Mon-Thur., which is good for entree and 2 sides. The staff was friendly and I would visit again. My catfish meal was tasty and filling.
The food was amazing and so was the service! Definitely a must try again and again!
We only knew what we read online about Jim Shaw's Seafood Grill. That the restaurant was Voted Best Seafood in Macon for 2021. We are glad we checked the place out. The building is on the smaller side, I read that seating is for 75 people. No matter the size of the building, the food, however, was superb. I throughly enjoyed my Sea Bass Tacos. These were my first fish tacos but they won't be my last. My wife had the Grilled Shrimp and fried Calamari combination with a baked potato. She said her meal was delicious. My son had Chicken Fingers and fries. He rarely makes comments about his food yet told us how good the fries were. My daughter's plate looked amazing. She ordered the Bourbon glazed Salmon. My wife and I both sampled her salmon, which was very tasty to me. We were stuffed so we ordered three pieces of Key Lime pie to go. Dessert was delicious as well! I look forward to coming back to this eatery in the future. Gregory M.
The seafood was Outstanding!! The service was excellent..Owen was on top of everything!! My wife and I went on a Saturday afternoon. We waited an hour for a table..if you decide to try this wonderful restaurant, arrive before they open... and you will stand in line..it was well worth the wait..keep up the great work..will be returning to this historical Macon Georgia restaurant..Thank you.
If you appreciate consistently great service, amazing food with large portions, short wait times, and the most bang for your buck short of disgusting fast food, Jim Shaw's is the place to go.I have never had bad service nor have I had to send anything back to the hardest working kitchen staff this side of the Mason-Dixon. Their battered fries should be considered a Macon staple, as should the blackened tuna bites, both personal faves. It's a little more than Crapplebee's but you actually get an enjoyable experience, delicious food, and good drink prices. I rate it a 10/5 stars.
Jim Shaw’s is the best seafood restaurant in Macon. It’s where all the locals hang out.We try to go Wednesday or Thursday because there is always a line on the weekend. 5-6 pm they have dinner specials.
Delicious food and great service. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I couldn't ask for a better birthday dinner!!
