I’m not from here so I went here based on the 4.5+ star Google review but I was really disappointed. The people in the drive thru were very nice but the food had no flavor. I ordered a veggie plate (rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains). The rice and peas was ok but the cabbage had no flavor/seasoning and the plantains were dry.
My personal opinion about the food.... it's tasteless. It doesn't have the Jamaican taste or feel to the food. The macaroni and cheese was watery and the jerk chicken is just nasty. You get a lot of food for the price bit I just had a lot of food to throw away before going somewhere else to eat. Hopefully they make some changes in the kitchen to bring in more business.
I'm very impressed by this establishment. By outward appearances this is a hole in the wall but don't let appearances fool you. The food is delicious! Jerk tastes like jerk, rice and peas tastes like rice and peas. They can cook and even the side of cabbage is good--right texture, not soupy and the pieces of carrots in it adds to it. The Mac and Cheese makes you think this is a Soul Food restaurant not a Caribbean one.In Patwa: Bigop di Chef and Kruu!The lesson I learnt: don't judge a book until you have read it. I'm glad I tried this restaurant and I loved it.
My first time having oxtails they were delicious & full of flavor, the drive thru line took a while but since covid ALL drive thru lines are long, my only issue was when it was time to pay I wanted the cashier to confirm my order.... I guess she was offended?, umm im a paying customer this meal is $20+! I have the right to get my order confirmed ma'am... poor customer service smh you gotta DO BETTER. The 4 stars is only towards the food.Customer service not so good at the window.
Brown Stew Chicken. Rice and peas, plantains and a jerk patty. The best in DeKalb County and most of Gwinnett.
I hate to do this but unfortunately I just lost $36. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and beans. It taste like regular brown gravy with a lot of salt. The crazy part is I love salt but I really wanted to taste jerk sauce. My brother order curry chicken with oxtail rice bean and cabbage. He took one bite and spit it out. We both ended up throwing it all away. Though the lady's were polite, the food was horrible. I hope this is not taken as an insult because that is not my intent. Please revamp the recipes.
I had oxtails. And they gave a lot! It was so good. Did I taste sweetness in this meal? I did. The mixed rice was a perfect blend. A definite stop if you're in Atlanta.
Normally 5 Star. Today was very disappointed in the service. Doors are locked. Drive thru only with no clear signage that indicates that. The drive thru is now drive up and walk up. Hence, a long wait on line for service only to be told that you can’t get the lunch special despite waiting 30mins and them serving drive up and pedestrians alike.Then add a nasty attitude because I voiced my opinion… Taking my business elsewhere. This is why Jamaican restaurants get nasty reputations! FIX IT!!!
Wish they could gave me a little more comfort. I had got a large plate with only 4 1/2 pice of it. The plantes was Dried out. First time here and will be my last time here.
Stumbled upon this gem in the city of Lithonia and I'm home now wishing I would have gotten a to go plate. We had items from the hot bar and the kale wrap. Everything was delicious!
