Find some soul food anywhere but here. I've been 2x just in case they were having a bad day. But no.. they were horrible the 2nd time as well. You ask for fried chicken. They tell you they don't have any ready and it will take 20 minutes. Name another soul food restaurant that doesn't have fried chicken ready at all times. The collards were mostly stems not leaves.the ribs were charred through. The staff at both locations in Duluth have messed up attitudes. Seriously.. find somewhere else to go for Soul food ,cause this place sucks.
Let me say this. I saw so many good references for this place in my GWOC group. I literally ordered 100 worth of food. With extra sides. I ordered about3 sides of mac and cheese and a side order. So disappointed it was so dry. Like hard and dry. Like why would you serve this? It was clearly not made today or yesterday or they didn't use much cheese. It wasn't stringy. Just fall apart noodles. Come on!!. My kids could not eat it. So they only ate their chicken. I ordered baked chicken which was ok. The potato salad had a ton ofnsugar or sweetness to it.It's upsetting. Then when I called I just got short ended responses. I'll update my review to my gwoc group. That mac and cheese ,po r at salad was a crime. Especially for 100.00 worth of food.
I give it 3 stars because you get plenty of food for the price. Customer Service was decent. I always want to support Black owned businesses, however the food is decent although very sweet tasting. Even the potato salad was sweet and the dressing tasted like cake. I had the oxtails which were good and tender not a big fan of the rice. The fried chicken was fried a bit too hard to our liking. Oh the peach cobbler was really good but the key lime cake wasn’t as moist as should be but the icing was pretty good. The collards were good. Yams were good. Mac n cheese could use more milk. Not true southern food. Again they give good amount of food and prices are pretty reasonable. Try it for yourself.
Wonderful soul food. 6 plates made just the way we like it and very plentiful. Prices are great too.
Ok, this is an update to my previous review. After the owner reached out because of my unacceptable experience, my sister and I received another order and I have to say...the new experience was outstanding! The food was cooked to perfection. The timely manner in which Chef Keith responded to my concerns is commendable and very much appreciated. His commitment to a positive customer experience speaks volumes. Thank you Chef Keith, for turning a rather poor experience into a completely pleasant and enjoyable one.Ordered seafood for delivery on the recommendation of a relative. Catfish, shrimp, fries, hush puppies and fried okra...worse meal ever! Food was fried in old cooking oil, okra was so hard there was no way to eat them. Both meals got thrown out. Never again
Rude & unprofessional. No matter how good your food tastes customer service is key. As a rule of thumb you should always treat people how you want to be treated. Everything is energy. If you have a nasty attitude preparing my food you’re transferring that energy. And when you treat people bad you soon find yourself in their shoes. Today I went to the website to order food so that it would be ready when I arrived, as service is always slow. The website charged my card but the rude restaurant employee Crystal says I have no order. I showed her the payment for my order in my bank account activity but she remained rude with no resolution. Now I have to dispute the charge with my bank as this restaurant provided me nothing in exchange for the money they took from me. This restaurant should be ashamed to call itself a business.
Twice I've ordered the rib tips plate, and loved them both times! The catfish dinner was killin' too! UPDATE: Past Thanksgiving, I ordered the banana pudding, greens, sweet potatoes, rolls, mac n cheese- and more rib tips- and they were just as good as the first time!
Macaroni and cheese was dry. Collard greens taste like they came out of a can and were not tender at all. The chicken wings were fried to the perfect crisp but had no seasoning on them. The house made strawberry lemonade was super sweet, more like a variety kool-aid mix and the peach cobbler was good except some of the crust was burnt. Chicken wing plate plus peach cobbler was $24+. Definitely not worth it.
I went to this restaurant for the first time this evening, 1/6/22. To make a long story short. The people were rude, unfriendly, discourteous and disinterested in me placing an order. But I stayed. I stayed because very close friends of mine, recommended this place. So I tried overlooking how rude and unfriendly the staff was when I entered. I placed my order. ($28) Once I did, the lady tells me, they have fried chicken but it will take 15 minutes so I will have to wait. I said no problem. I'll wait. So I go to the end of the counter. This man behind their counter tells me, very rudely, that I cannot wait inside their restaurant and that I have to go outside. ???? I was like excuse me? He repeated and said there is no waiting for your food inside the building, you have to go outside. I was like where outside? I was shocked. I had on my N95 mask as required on the front door of their building and I didnt see anywhere on the front door stating you have to wait outside. Nor did I see any seating outside for waiting. At this point, with it being my first time there, I was truly taken aback and disgusted with their rude behavior and their ridiculous rules.I requested they cancel my order and return my money since as a paying customer I'm being treated so badly. At first the lady tells me, we do not give refunds or exchanges and she points to this paper sign someone pinned up on the glass divider. I insisted I get my money back so I could leave and since I haven't received any food, I do not want to stay there while being treated like they have treated me. The lady reluctantly gave me a credit to my credit card and pushed the credit slip at me. I will never ever go back to this awful restaurant and do not recommend that anybody goes there. By the way, the food was sitting out like it had been sitting there all day anyway. Ewww.
I was convinced to believe this company is real and fast on payment.
