Poor Richards has been and still is my favorite restaurant in Gainesville. Their prime rib, baked potato, salad with hot bacon dressing, and delicious, fresh bread keeps my husband and I coming back for every special occasion.
This was my first time eating here. The food was amazing and the service was very friendly. Will be coming back!
I had never been to this place. A number of people reccomended it to me. So we go... The service staff was good. The place is decidedly old and dated. The artichoke dip appeared to have been made much earlier in the day. It was dry and clumpy. I had the rib eye. I asked for medium rare. It came out well done. It was very thin and of poor quality to begin with. I think for less money you could get a better meal elsewhere. Two stars both for the staff. Zero stars for the food.
Clearly understaffed, onion rings came old cold, wings came out kinda of fresh.Waiter/Waitress staff were clearly overwhelmed. I do not fault them at all, they were doing their best with the traffic they had and amount of tables. It is unclear to me if Poor Richards could attract more applicants/staff buy paying fair wages. With the amount of people and order out orders I saw within my two hours I believe they could.Unfortunately at this time I do not recommend.
Menu and decor haven't been changed since the last time it's been popular I'm the 1970s... I feel this is kept Alive by the senior citizens and the occasional tourist victim. Nothing on the menu is worth trying . Save a $150 and go buy yourself something off Wendy's value menu .
Visited twice in the past few months. Both times, all of 6 of us ordered filet mignon- meat was fantastic, as was the (gigantic) baked potato and the hot bacon salad. Waitresses both times were great. We'll be back again soon.
Waitress was great other than the beer runneth over. The sandwich was great. The dip was uggh, not a dip--had waitress take it away and didn't eat it--dry. No offer to refund it. Creme brulee, my favorite, was burned so bad it was hard to eat. The custard was good. Told the lady at the front, still no offer to refund. Very expensive. Nice atmosphere.
Gordon Ramsey's next kitchen nightmare. Read other reviews boasting about the prime rib...so I oredered it..extremely underwhelmed. The prime rib was bland. The gravy was bland. The loaded baked potato was good..and the only reason I didn't leave hungry. Very expensive for the quality.
We visited last night, and had the best dinner! The Spinach Artichoke dip was delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp, and said it was amazing. Happy to see their prices are lower for the wines and champagnes. It has a beautiful, elegant atmosphere, and many interesting antique decorations. We will definitely be back!
