My husband and I met another couple for dinner as Gainesville was halfway between our homes. The reviews sounded great and they were spot on! From the welcome when we came in and throughout our meal, we were treated like we were the only table but the restaurant was actually busy. We asked about the Luna’s Hatfield Creation. It turned out to be so much fun and so wonderful. The chef picks a 4 course meal for you and you have no idea what you will be served. All 4 of us tried it and loved every bite. Each of our courses were different. One got shrimp, one fried green tomato, one salad, one soup for the appetizer and it got better from there. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was beautiful and our server, Karli, was attentive and fun. The owner came by a couple of times to check on us as well. We will be back!!
Surprisingly delightful cuisine well presented. The trout was superb and my lady loved her shrimp and grits. Live entertainment while you eat in the more casual piano bar room, or go for fancy in the fine dining room across the courtyard -- same menu in both. Will return.
Luna's is always just what I'm looking for when I'm in the mood for that type of thing. The food is excellent, service and drinks are on point, and when we go, we sit in the "bar" and enjoy the live music. Not stuffy, reasonably priced, and consistently a good place to take the Mrs.
At first it seemed like it was a good restaurant nice decor jazz flowing. We received service that wasn't what we saw other customers were getting we wasn't informed of the dinner specials. Our server was very non shalant. I hope it wasn't just a minor mistake. H oh w do you not offer all your guests the special of the day....
Never liked it. Went with friends. Always over priced. Pleasantly surprised. Good service. Try the double pork chop. Do the main dinning room, not the bar. Still a little pricey, but much better than Scott's around the corner
We had another great meal at Luna's today. I had the fried shrimp and grits and my wife the teriyaki steak tips. Both were prepared perfectly. You know when you're in an upscale restaurant when your food comes out at the correct time. By that I mean, the appetizers (French onion soup and fried green tomatoes) were served and the entrée didn't come out until we finished the appetizers. I hate having my salad or appetizers on the table half eaten and the entrée is brought out. Doesn't happen at Luna's .The staff is friendly and professional and were there with drinks and refills without us having to ask.I also got to meet the owner and shake his hand. Nice, professional man who cares about his customers and his business.Thank you for yet another fantastic meal in a beautiful setting.
The owner of this restaurant came over and lectured my 99 year old, veteran great-grandma because she brought her own tea bag and asked for hot water. She was accused of “being immoral” because she was not buying HIS tea and was left feeling embarrassed and attacked. I have worked in the service industry for several years and see people doing this all the time. This is so embarrassing on Luna’s part.
Disgusted with this restaurant manager when I found out that they had a problem with a 99 year old mother bringing her preferred brand of tea bag to lunch and only asked for hot water. We all should only be so lucky to have our mother around for this length of time!! Especially in these times. What a horrible heart breaking scene this must have been for the mother and daughter and her guest. Will never frequent this so called establishment again. In response to your pathetic response, the proper business owner response would be “ I would be more than happy to bring you a pot of hot water for your tea, but I will still have to charge you for tea.” That’s what is known as a win win situation for each party, just “food for thought”.Wow!! Now I find out that YOU did not even ask what kind of tea it was !!!! You keep digging your hole deeper
Rude and disrespectful to a 98 yr old Veteran because she brought her own tea bag ? WT?? Did you offer her a alternative or did you just need to expose your nasty spirt? What you didn’t know Juan is that my 70 year old mother had just had Brest cancer surgery and just wanted to have a nice lunch with her husband and mother and you when out of your way to ruin it. Both my 98 year old Grandmother and 78 yr old father are handicapped. Did you move their walkers out of the way so they couldn’t get up and leave your restaurant when you decided to pull up a chair to harass them ? I wonder if they hadn’t all been senior citizens would you have been so disrespectful?I don’t need you to thank me for not returning . You can thank me for telling everyone I can reach what kind of person you are .
I just saw the post about the owner telling a woman that her 98 year old mother couldn’t bring her own tea bag into his restaurant. That it was unethical?! Really!? For this reason alone I will never eat here. That and I can’t stand people who think they are better than me. No thanks.
