Friday evenings are tough because where do you go for good food without having to wait an hour plus for a table? Not to sound like I don't like people and busy spots BUT I don't like having to wait to be seated [email protected] in Duluth is that perfect spot if you're looking for good noodles or rice because not only is the food delicious but the dining area is peaceful and quiet. You go up to the counter to order from the easy to see menu board with pictures and your food is served shortly after. I personally like ordering the Ton Kotsu Ramen because I love the flavor but I also like getting their Chashu Don rice dish. They of course have several appetizers for you to order (Brussel sprouts and octopus!?) so you can get your full fining experience here. They don't have dessert BUT there are a thousand places to go for dessert in the Duluth area anyways ?My only wish is that they had a full soda fountain for refills ? Coke Zero in the can will have to do for now!! ?#rolieats #goodeats #goodfood #rolireview #japanesefood #ramen #ramennoodles #rice #tonkotsuramen #appetizers #duluth #iloveramen #idontlikecrowds
GO HERE BEFORE IT CLOSES AT THE END OF MAY.Fantastic don!!!! I was blown away by the quality and quantity of salmon in the salmon don. Everything in the set was delicious. We also got the chicken kaarage don and were surprised how much food we got for the price. The Ebi tempura and chicken bun apps were also no joke. The chicken bun had a great sauce.Seriously so upset that this wonderful place is closing!
First time coming here after hearing all the good things about it. I was very happy with dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful. He checked up on us to make sure everything was good. You come in and you order at the front desk, then you'll be given a number and food will be brought out to you. Food was delicious. My second favorite ramen place. I got tonkatsu ramen, very traditional just to see if the broth is good. Love love how tender the pork meat was. We also got Gyu Don and Chashu don. Both dishes were very good as well. Flavorful. Definitely coming back soon. The portions were enough and very filling.
Brother & I randomly wanted ramen while we were on Pleasant Hill. Went on trusty Yelp & came across this spot! (Location is great though parking can sometimes be scarce.)The food was pretty good - it's as you would expect from a typical ramen spot. It wasn't the best ramen I've ever had in my life but the ramen wasn't the last bit disappointing (the buns were a bit disappointing though). One thing I do wish was that they offered a greater range of spice levels. I typically get the second spiciest my first time trying anything & my daring brother always gets the spiciest. However, the spiciest level of the ramen was a bit underwhelming.. I would expect what he got to be level 3 (or 4) out of 5.. but definitely not the spiciest. This spot would easily be a 5 star if the price was a bit more reflective of the quality of the food. The food is good but definitely overpriced. Is it so overpriced that I would never visit again? Certainly not.. but I definitely didn't feel like we got what we paid for. Also, you pay up front as you pay so if you're planning on leaving a tip, do it when you pay (unless you have cash)!

This is a similar ramen place to Raku and Kumai in the area. The spicy Tonkatsu Ramen comes in multiple spice levels so it can be adjusted to your perfect level of spice. The Takoyaki is as traditional as it gets in terms of taste. The Chicken Karaage was crispy and tasty. The menu is so varied so anyone can find something they would like. The staff was helpful and quick. All in all, I would recommend this place if you want Japanese for a great value and casual lunch/dinner.
This was our first visit to the samurai ramen restaurant, and we liked the cozy and clean interior. You can order at the ordering place, and when you are seated, the food will be served. The manager, Sam, explained each dish and helped order. For 4 of us, we had Spicy Ton Katsu ramen, Ton Katsu ramen, Gyu don, Chashu bun, Salmon don, and Takoyaki. I like the Spicy Ton Katsu ramen because the broth is thick and spicy. The original version was also delicious because it was possible to savor the smoked flavor of Katsu in the thick broth. The salmon was fresh, and the texture was so good. Gyudon was served with seasoned rice, which was a protein and delicious. The Okonomiyaki was delicious and easy for children to eat, and the Chashu bun had a good texture with the Chashu with a rich sauce, cilantro, and a bun in harmony. Our first visit was, but we had a pleasant time with the neat interior, service, and delicious food. We highly recommend this ramen restaurant.
My husband and I visited a samurai ramen restaurant for the second time during our trip. Our first impressions were so good that we went back with high expectations. We ordered Shiho ramen, Spicy Ton Kotsu ramen, and Chicken Karaage. My husband, who doesn't eat spicy pork, ordered Shiho ramen, and the soup was clean and protein, so he ate half of the soup as soon as he started eating. The noodles are chewy and go well with the various toppings, so it didn't take long to eat a bowl. I ordered Spicy Ton Kotsu ramen, and it was thick and flavorful because the broth had been simmered for a long time. Chicken Karaage served as an appetizer was crispy, and the texture was pleasant while eating. It was our second visit, and this time it became a happy memory. It is highly recommended for those who are considering a visit.
If you like ramen this place is the real deal. I'm not a full fledged expert but I do eat with people who are and you don't want to miss this place. Tonkatsu ramen was on point! I also got the Chausu Bun which was good but I've had better. The bun had some iceberg lettuce and parsley which was just unnecessary in my opinion. It made it more messy than it needed to be.Definitely will return if I'm in the area!
Just retired and lived in Japan for 24 years. Wife is Japanese and we have been looking for a decent Ramen place since getting back. Ramen was dead on like eating back in Japan at a local mom and pop shop. We will be back!
