First off, the building being an old train station makes this a very cool setting for a meal. The staff told us it’s haunted too. We started our meal with grilled oysters and a dozen raw. The grilled were very good with a touch of heat to them, so be careful if you’re overly sensitive to spicy. The raw oysters all had a unique flavor as we picked 3 different types. The green salad had a dressing that was amazing. The for the entree, I had the duck. It was crisp and melted in my mouth. We will definitely be back!
Kimball House is my favorite restaurant in Metro-Atlanta. I’ve never had a bad meal, and they’re always changing up the menu. You can go for drinks alone, oysters alone, or a full course menu.
Amazing place I had always wanted to go to! My girlfriend took me there for my birthday and it did exceed all my expectations. Drinks were top notch with great recommendations of our waitress and the food was really to die for. Classics revisited it really worked well I liked very dish of it. The oysters were all so fresh with the owner picking them up and bringing back himself from Florida loved that little side story :). Will be back hopefully soon!
Kimball house is definitely a treat every single time. We love most of their food, especially the oysters and chicken skin. But sometimes their food can be too overly salty. One of the best thing we had this time was the Cayatelli. The vodka dauce was creamy, the seafood were all so fresh and well balanced in the creamy sauce. Cayatelli was cooked to perfection and each bite was fun and flavorful! The beef tartar was also very refreshing with the capers and chili mayo sauce. The rosemary chip paired perfectly with the soft texture of the tartar, it was a great starter!Because their menu changes from time to time, I cannot say what is the best but some of their staple Hors d' Oeuvres like chicien skin, Hawaiian roll with their special preserves always hots the spot!
Gorgeous and fancy place in an old train station. Great atmosphere and the staff is nice.Cocktails menu is incredible and creative with a great attention to details. You can even watch all the hard work they put into creating your drinks.A negative aspect would be the price but it is worth it since the quality is here!
I have been to a lot of expensive dinners. Many places that charge high premiums don't deliver food and service that are worth the 3 or 4 digit bill that comes with. This is NOT one of those places. Here they deliver what you pay for and some. And they do it with in a way that feels unforced and natural for it's little spot in Decatur. This might be the best spot in ATL for oysters (Not for price, for that go to Steamhouse on a Wednesday). An incredible selection at a price that is fair for the quality. Their oyster shucker is the best I've seen in the city. It's been awhile since I had a west coast oyster without bits of grit and shell in the meat. Here, every oyster was perfectly prepped, presented, and delicious. Our meals of steak spinalis and halibut were fantastic and each dish cooked with understated skill. No stupid foam or potatoes cut into perfect squares. No gimmicks. Just good food in a warm and inviting atmosphere.Their pecan old fashioned was so smooth I could have drunk about 15 of em. The chocolate entremet with lemon sherbet was the perfect end to a great meal. This is the kind of place I'll take business guests to because it does so well to show what makes Decatur and the food scene there, specifically, and in the Metro, generally, so great. Go check it out!
This is our go to place for wonderful food and I’m not sure why I’m just reviewing! My husband and daughter love the oysters and always get seconds. We then share small plates. We always get the pâté which is always wonderful. And we always get the steak tartare, also alway wonderful. When I checked the menu ahead of time, I was dismayed to see no steak tartare so I googled a bit and decided to sub the caviar and middlins. I was thrilled to see steak tartare on the menu but still got the caviar and middlins. Amazing. And the waitress suggested chicken skins to pile these one, wonderful. We are never disappointed. Oh and cocktails are always outstanding!
We finally made it to Kimball house. I have always been meaning to dine here as I have heard great things and love oysters! Tough to get a reservation though I have to say that this has been one of the best meals I have had in Atl this year. Our server Luke was excellent. His explanation of the cocktails and the dishes was on point and he guided us perfectly! The filet was delicious and the accompanied sweet potatoes etc was a fine touch. And oh the oysters selection was pleasing. Definitely coming back
I would not call Kimball House a “restaurant”, I would call it “an experience.” I’ve visited here three times in the span of the last 6 months and each time has been nothing short of wonderful. From the moment you walk in the door, to every single person you interact with, and every single thing you put in your mouth….it’s like Christmas. The staff is so detail oriented, they notice things before you do. Yes, this is a pricey meal, but it’s worth every penny. Every dish I’ve ever had here leaves me speechless. The beverages are also out of this world. Unique, tasty, and the perfect amount of booze to get your belly warmed up for Oysters! Kimball House has special place in my heart. It makes every celebration and special date night that much better and I’m grateful to have discovered this spot sooner than later!
Oyster bar menu is great. I ordered the Hawaiian Roll as appetizer and was great. The Snapper was espectacular and the caramel apple tart was super tasty. See pic.
