What a disappointment this place has become. The only menu was the one they laminated at the register where you had to order, pay, and wait for your number to be called. It is no longer a diner but is now a full blown fast food place. They just have the audacity to ask for a tip. We where informed that the dining area would eventually shut down for good and it would just be a drive through. The majority of their menu is gone for good as well. They will only do burgers and hotdogs from now on. Customer service is no long a value of this establishment. That was very clear during our last visit.
The food was good but the restaurant is terrible. You have to order at the cash register then go sit and wait for your food. Not very clean either. The trash can by the front door was overflowing, several tables dirty that were not cleaned during the entire time we were there. This is definitely the worst Steak & Shake I’ve ever been to.
Steak n shake is changing in a new way that is very disappointing and less personable. You have to order up front and find a place to sit. Then you have to look at what number is on your receipt. Then you have to walk to the front when your number is called. This us not supposed to be a fast food restaurant like McDonald's. They have no salt, pepper, napkins on the table. Their customer service is going out. Extremely unhappy with these new changes. The only time you get anyone to pay attention to the customer is when you pay. After that they don't even check on you to make sure your okay or happy with the experience. I want the customer service and the waiters back. They expect us to get up and get our food, get our condiments and take our trays to the trash. This is their job. WE PAY FOR THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. If this is how they are going to do it for now on they need to charge a lot less for their food. I don't think I will go to any steak n shake that doesn't have a waiter. Extremely impersonal.
We arrived had to order and pay first. On the menu for the $4 meals showed drink and fries come with it. We were later asked drinks. We were told they don't come with $4 meals. False advertising. There shouldn't show on menu if they don't. I probably would
Usually I have an amazing experience at this location. Today was a little different I placed a mobile order and it said it’d be ready in 0-5 that’s okay but I knew it’d be longer as the S&S was busy. However I ended up waiting 30 mins when my food was bagged and ready at 15 mins. My bag sat there for 10-15 mins and I finally got up and asked and was just handed the bag. No “I’m sorry for your wait” or “have a good day” or a “bye” the customer service here really let me down today. Still love this place but really just work on being a tad more friendly.
They don't serve at the tables, but you can eat in. The shakes are always great, and if you like slim fries, they are great.
You could dine in but had to place your order to go and then carry it to a table. I counted at least 7 employees but once you have your food they don't even look at you anymore. Our order was wrong but the service was so bad from the young girls at the register that my wife decided to wipe the mayo off and do without the garlic butter rather than deal with anyone else at the establishment.
Gone are the days of Poodle Skirts, Sock Hops, Drive-In theaters and good customer service. Standing in line, I watched as chaos ensued as customers fended and tended for themselves in getting their orders that were lined up on the counter. No staff assistance given. Counter ordering and pickup in to go bags are now in. This 85 year old burger chain offering steakburgers and shakes continues its nostalgic throwback with its furnishings, fixtures and music straight out of the fifties. This location has a worn, tired feel to it. Prices offer a bang for your buck, as a number of meals are under four dollars. My Original Double 'n Cheese Steakburger was two nicely grilled beef patties, cheese and all the toppings. A small side of shoestring fries came with it. Food was good, prices reasonable and now if we could only return to the customer service of the past.

It was ok. They didn't have a full menu. Mostly burgers and fries now. Lobby open but no full service yet.
