Food was great, staff were wonderful, buttermilk pie was perfect.
Food portions weren't worth the price we paid (17.00). Given the food tasted decent. Although the Cabbage was bland and the Cornbread was too sweet, white and not a pretty golden color. Like it could've cooked a little longer. Then we ordered Chicken and Dressing as our main part of the entree. Chicken was decently seasoned as was the Dressing but we barely got any. At least a nice scoop would have been nice but I certainly didn't get more than maybe a heaping tablespoon and my friend got even less than that ..smh!!!! ??♀️ Now given we did arrive at almost closing time and was told we should have come earlier but I would have rather they told us they did have enough dressing. Cause if that's they're regular serving size it definitely isn't worth it at all. The Mac n Cheese also tasted decent but it was barely lukewarm. And lastly they were out of ice so our drinks arrived with like two or three pieces in it. When we ask for my ice that's when the server said they were out of ice. Workers began cleaning up for closing but we're also packing up the food I guess they were going to take home with them. So during this period we weren't getting much attention. Some of the staff weren't very friendly and rather short with us. We try our best to support black owned businesses but Lord sometimes it just so hard.... I would say keep your money and cook at home.... If you want to throw your money feel free to eat here.... You can get your money's worth at places like Robert's in Lithonia and Gigi's in Covington. I miss Tiffany's Buffet that used to be in Covington!!!! Covington definitely is lacking on great Soul Food and BBQ spots. Hope with time some more places come along.
Nine of us decided to have dinner here after a wedding rehearsal and we all enjoyed everything ordered.I personally had the pork chops w/ black eye peas, rice and gravy, and cheesy grits. The pork chops were lightly seasoned but expertly prepared. I naturally mixed the peas and rice together and was happier for it.Elea J's is truly wonderful and worth checking out.
Visiting from England, and we came after church on a Sunday....the queue was out the door the whole time we were there....We had a large table and they confused some orders and tables but was sorted in the end and the food was so good!!. I'd definitely recommend it and I'll visit again next time I'm over
Awesome food!!!! First time in just moved from Florida, the ox tails was tender, my daughter shrimp n fish was awesome and my grandson fried chicken was excellent. Their sides are all good. Will be back
Me and my husband took a chance on this restaurant. The food was seasoned perfectly. I had the smothered pork chops and he had the smothered chicken. Food was very fresh. The fried green tomatoes were sooo good. My only negative would be that the red velvet cake was not fresh which isn't enough to give them less than 5 stars. Will definitely be back!! Thanks for the great service as well.
Great spot for Sunday lunch. My fried ocra and hopping john was as good as the fried chicken. I would definitely recommend
New to the area, tried most of the soul food restaurants with disappointment until I found this hidden gem. So glad we did not give up and travel outside of the area, this place reigns Supreme. I ordered the key lime pie which does not look like key lime so hoping for that same outstanding flavor in this delicious meal.
This place is a real jewel. Hospitable, friendly and great food. Will not disappoint.
The most courteous service I've experienced They are still working out the rough spots, so not a good place if you are in a hurry. The food was good but a bit pricey
