The food was good but its very misleading to call this brunch. They added eggs to their regular menue items and slapped the word brunch in front of the name. I ordered the fried green tomato Po Boy and my wife ordered the shrimp and grits "with eggs".We had mimosas that were fine nothing special and they only served them with orange juice. The star of the show in my opinion was the Hush puppies. They were perfectly cooked with a small amount of corn kernals inside. They were well seasoned with a touch of spice. Crispy on the outside warch and chewy on the inside. The cayenne ranch suace they paired along side it is fantastic.
My food last night was the bomb! The shrimp/sausage and grits were delicious! The Beignets were yummy!
I'm from Louisiana ....In the past this establishment was authentic.. not now!!! they must have kids cooking.. I had gumbo... all it was was rice over gravy cut up sausage sitting on top the gravy and uncooked shrimp on top to gravy that's it !!!!.... where is the flavor....... I am sick and tired of these so-called Cooks... restaurants pretending that they know what they're doing

The shrimp and sausage with cheese grits was DELICIOUS!!! Came out super hot and fresh and service was so nice and attentive! They even had a kids menu for our baby where he could eat smaller portions of the Cajun food we had. Overall delicious!! Also affordable as each plate was under $20. Our family of 3 ate for under $50 at dinner time.
So freaking good. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is quaint. Just an adorable place with outdoor seating as well. Came for brunch and the food was delicious. Just the right amount of spice. Hush puppies were perfect, shrimp and sausage over grits was fantastic. Beignets to finish. Super satisfying. 10/10 would do again.
My wife and I live out of town and our daughter is in college in Columbus so for her birthday we took her to Cafe Le Rue as we didn't want a chain restaurant. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon there were no other customers in the restaurant (hint #1) so I asked the owner was he open and he said yes - so in a few minutes, two more of our guests showed up. The owner raved about how he was a culinary arts chef and how he had spent quite a bit of time in New Orleans studying at Cajun restaurants. I ordered the Mardi Gras Pasta and since I don't eat shrimp I asked for extra crawfish instead and I was told that he couldn't do because the mix came in a bag!! When my food came out, I saw no crawfish also my wife ordered shrimp and grits - the grits and the shrimp were cold and was not seasoned at all!! Our daughter ordered pasta with a side of fish and her food was also cold so needless to say that we wasted our money and our daughters birthday meal was a complete bust!! One more thing - we ordered the beignets that the owner bragged about but when he brought them out they tasted just like funnel cakes from a carnival and when I called him on the xarpet about them, he admitted that they were funnel cakes cut!! Once again he is charging Cafe Du Monde prices. Total waste of time and money!!
This place was really great. I took a friend who is really picky, and she enjoyed most of the food. I got the shrimp and sausage over grits, and they got the sampler with the shrimp and grits and shrimp éttoufée. Everything was very well made. I will be back.
Well here I am leaving my review after enjoying my food, the atmosphere and reading the response from the owner to an honest review that my cousin left. This was my second time eating here and each time my food has been nothing less of delicious. While my food was delicious, my sister's meal was prepared incorrectly after she KNEW (in response to the “OWNER” who referenced the menu) what came on the salad and asked for modifications. Which we were not rude about and still continued to enjoy our meals. She had to ask for the things to be taken off again but when the food was brought back other things were missing that she didn’t ask to be removed. I’m appalled and perturbed at the response that was given to my cousin because she was honest. There’s no accountability or an apology from said owner. There was finger pointing and accusations made that were completely unnecessary. Everyone makes mistakes like the meal preparer I’m the kitchen on this day but the rude response from a “small” business owner was a choice. I would’ve went again BUT the response was enough for me to NEVER spend another penny in that raggedy…..Hope this helps.
I’ve never had fried okra’s & theirs is soo ? ! They were done before I could snap a pic.
