I've never been to Carrollton Georgia, nor did I ever expect to but here I am and I was hungry. Right across the street from the hotel is this great little barbecue place called Sam's House BBQ. The owner himself is the cook so I'm guessing that Sam, very nice guy some of the things I ordered they didn't have because it was getting very close to closing. He told me I can give it to you but I don't want to serve it to you cuz it would be a mess and I wouldn't stand behind that product so I ordered some alternatives and my meal was fantastic.Chopped BBQ pork and a smoked sausage with collard greens baked beans and some peach cobbler.Would highly recommend. It's not a fine dining restaurant this is a true barbecue place so don't expect a bunch of frills.
Usually it's a great experience and the food is awesome. Today was not great. They were really busy with to go orders. I was charged over $100 for two family meals that are priced at $30 each on the menu. Also, my order was 2 hours late being ready.Update:. After getting the food home we realized that we didn't even get the Cole slaw that we ordered. So I changed my rating. This was a terrible experience.
No chicken or Brunswick stew, or so we were told. Turns out the chicken was only 5 mins from being ready (as the table next to us ordered it.)The pork sandwich was delicious, as were the fries.Bit of a dive/hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but those are usually the best (just be careful of the lights falling from the ceiling.)
Absolutely love this place. The true definition of southern hospitality. Always leave with my stomach full and a huge smile on my face!! This food is cooked with love!!
Came up here to get a to go order and the order wasn't ready. The guy that was there told me the owner took off to do a catering service. While I was waiting I ask the guy if he could call the owner to see how long he the guy would be. The guy call the owner and the owner he would be 10 mins well 10 mins turned into 40 mins.fimally a waitress came in the door and she told it would be 30 mins before they would have the order ready. I was very disappointed considering there was no apology or anything. I explained the lady what happened she act like she didn't care. She didn't offer anything or nothing. Will never order here again. Wright's bq in bremen beats the place any day!
The barbeque is great and the staff is friendly. Every time we've been, the barbeque has been the same--perfectly smoked, lean, and delicious! Truly a hidden gem in Carrollton!
I ordered from Sam’s on Doordash and out of 7 items ordered they left out two barbecue sandwiches, hickory fries, and onion rings. We had a plate of fries and 3 sides for our family who is quarantined. I normally wouldn’t take the time to write a review but that is ridiculous.
Used to eat here at least once a week. Been there about 4 times since the buyout and i am not impressed. The first time after he took the place over, the food was great, but it has gone downhill each week since. Service is terrible, they are closed on Tuesdays to do all the cooking for the week, and you can tell the food isnt made daily as soon as you get the plate. Fatty chopped pork and chicken, ordered the sausage and received deep fried burned sausage. Everyone talks about the sauce and how good it is, well guys, its bought from a place out of Austell.Sams used to be good. I do not think it will ever get that back.
Today was the second time within a month that having placed a to-go order well in advance the owner gave my order to someone else and decided to tell me “sorry”. If this is how he runs his business then I will make sure ALL my friends in Carrollton know just what kind of business he runs. Besides, Brents Burgers and BBQ is a whole lot better.
I was a little weary about eating here because of the appearance. It’s a hole in the wall. But sometimes those are the best places to eat so I thought I’d give them a try. The young waitress were nice. We were the only blacks in the restaurant at the time and the white customers didn’t seem to friendly being I’m not from around Carrolton. Was just visiting my daughter. We also got a few looks from some of the customers as if we didn’t belong. The smoke from the pit. inside the building was a little over powering my eyes burned a little. Service was a little slow but I guess thats to be expected with 1 person preparing food. We waited an hour and although the food wasn’t bad but wasn’t worth the wait either.
