Four of us went for dinner on Saturday, July 2. My wife and I had a salad and the seafood dinner, which was 4 shrimp, a shrimp cake, which was mainly cake, and risotto. An absolute joke, but a huge money maker for the owner! Nothing is priced on the menu and they don't give you an itemized check, just a total, for obvious reasons!! Never again!The owner doesn't get it per his response. Customers want an itemized bill BEFORE they pay $400.00 so they know what they're being charged for!! And the seafood cake was definitely not 100% seafood! I've been eating seafood at restaurants for 50 years.
Our favorite "Fancy" dining restaurant. Chef Chris always impresses us with his creations. Top quality ingredients crafted by a world class Chef.The menu changes often due to sourcing in season edibles. The Sperata house salad is always available. One of my many favorites.Beautiful environment in historic downtown Buford, Georgia.The staff is top notch. Ask Oliver for a wine pairing.
My husband and I are never disappointed as whatever we order is wonderful. The meals I order almost always come with lentils which I love. The portions are large, the Wait Staff is Terrific and when they have their Piano Player, I could sit there for hours. I love going there over the Christmas Holidays which we've not been able to do for the past two years. As we will be moving out of state shortly, we will definitely make a reservation for one last time. Whenever we are back in Georgia we will make a reservation.
The food is not worth the price at all and our waiter had a snide attitude. It took us 45 minutes to get our food. Finally, when my husband received his entrée he didn’t even like it whatsoever. To say something positive we did enjoy the escargot and we did like the music.To the owner who replied.We had shared with the waiter that we were Italian and originally from the New York/New Jersey area. He looked amused, then he proceeded to speak in a fictitious Italian voice poking fun at us and our heritage while calling out to the chefs with our order…it was very off-putting, to say the least... Maybe you'll remember now or at least your waiter will.
The live music performance by the woman was the only thing I loved. Five stars for her. Everything else was insulting. Our presumably new waiter was giving it his best so thank you. Definitely should try once, at least, maybe for the laughs.Background: Set a reservation online for 9pm. We, two men, enter and the hostess mutters they are booked. Half the restaurant is empty and it’s 9pm and they close at 10:30. Button down shirt and jeans after work might have been an issue.Luckily we get seated after she spoke with someone in the back.The atmosphere is weird. Great soul music, but you can’t hear yourself speak. I don’t dislike that.I order the tuna appetizer (9/10) and the lamb (6/10), my partner soup and pork. We get all of that except no pork, but beef. That is fine, it’s late, he eats it. He did comment that it tasted grainy?On our way out, not one word. :(Anyways, good spot for casual dates/lunch, but you will not impress anyone here.I might come back in one year to see if it has changed.
Perfect. I had no complaints at all. Its very pricey but well worth it, the escargot was beautifully cooked and fresh as they get, the wine selection was fantastic. For dessert I had the lemon cheesecake and it was absolutley heavenly, wife had the chocolate tart and described it as "Devine". Live piano that took requests from Billy Joel to Bach and Beethoven.

We were enchanted by this restaurant! The food was delicious and beautifully nuanced! Our server, Oliver was engaging and impeccably knowledgeable about each dish. The pianist was such a perfect addition to our dining experience. You need to treat yourselves to Sperata!
My parents celebrated their 61 wedding anniversary with our family at the restaurant. The meal and service was great! Perfect place for excellence food, service and atmosphere.
