My sister and I stumbled across Mr. Shuck's Seafood during our monthly trip to Daddy's. He lives in the Waycross area. We never miss the opportunity to go to a beach or have a delicious seafood feast. We grew weary of the seafood places in Waycross, and decided to take a chance in Brunswick! Boy, aren't we glad we did! Mr. Shuck's has EVERYTHING a seafood lover wants! They have raw oysters from the NE (yes, it DOES matter where the oysters are from), conch in a to-die-for garlic butter sauce, shrimp a thousand different ways, and snow crabs!! They have blue crabs, too. No matter what you order, you will never be disappointed!! Oh! And don't forget to ask for Ms. Veronica to wait on you. She is AMAZING!!!
Add us to the long list of satisfied customers. Restaurant was just updated four days before our visit. As a matter of fact they were putting the new outdoor sign up during our visit. Inside, very chic like the smooth jazz being played at a reasonable level to induce conversation. Our server, Jennie, couldn't have been nicer and on her game. Brought us complimentary shrimp appetizers as first time visitors. Speaking of appetizers, we ordered fried green tomatoes. So, juicy. The breading was firm, not greasy. I had the blackened snapper basket with garlic corn. Cooked to perfection. Mr. Shucks sauce on the side, wow! Great kick. My wife usually enjoyed her grilled shrimp. We were on her way back to NJ from Florida. It is only a few miles off 95. Don't make a mistake and settle for the numerous fast food or chain restaurants in the area. First class service and fresh fish cooked to order at Mr. Shucks. You won't regret driving a couple extra miles. And . . . Very reasonably priced.
We asked the front desk clerk at our hotel for suggestions for dinner and she handed us at printout with local options. I had already looked on TripAdvisor and noticed Mr. Shucks; asked her about it specifically and she said it was REALLY good. Decided to give it a shot. We were a little put off by the location; seemed to be in a little bit of a rundown shopping area but again decided to give it a shot. So glad we did. Our waitress offered us a sample of their garlic shrimp and it was amazing. I had already decided on fried shrimp but asked if I could get half fried and half garlic and that was what I got. My side was garlic potatoes; dinner comes with garlic toast. Sounds like a lot of garlic but I’m telling you that butter garlic sauce would make a flip flop taste good (stealing from Guy Fieri). My wife had the whiting dinner with French fries and fried okra); she really liked it. If you are in the area and don’t stop here, you are missing out.
We went for dinner. We arrived & were seated within 10 minutes. After that we continued to wait. Busboy came & took our drink order. Waitress acknowledged us. She finally came to our table & told us about their food offerings. She left to give us time, & more time, & more time to look over menu. She finally returned & took our order. Then we started the waiting game for our food. When we arrived there at 6:00 pm there were other patrons but it was not packed. We finally received food at almost 7:00 pm. Food was very good but the wait was ridiculous.
What an awesome Seafood Restaurant! It's not big and it's not pretentious, it's just great seafood at a reasonable price. The fried oysters and fried shrimp were as good as we've ever had! Also tried the garlic "peel and eat" shrimp and fried conch, and they were great as well. The service and staff were the best!
Passing thru Brunswick, we found good reviews for Mr Shuck's on Tripadvisor and decided to try it. We had the best fried conch either of us has ever eaten, and fresh flavorful fried shrimp and plump oysters. The kitchen has a light touch with the fryer, everything was perfectly crisp, with no greasy feel or odor. We'll stop here every time we pass by this way!
Meal excellent! Atmosphere Excellent! Service Excellent! From the host, William, and our waitress, Jenni, excellent and outstanding! Watching the other customers, they seemed very pleased, too. Everyone of the staff was making an outstanding effort to please and serve the patrons! We would definitely return, when in the area.
Fresh and very good seafood! Their butter sauce is amazing. The place is clean and inviting. Their staff is amazing very friendly and helpful in your selection. The only thing they are missing is been on the water so you can dinghy in!!! ?
We are Canadians passing thru Brunswick. We did some researching in the media and decided to visit this delightful seafood restaurant which was also fairly close to our accommodations. Upon entering we were met by William who directed us to our table. William was engaging and informative. Jeanie was our server who was super friendly and efficient. We both decided on the garlic butter shrimp accompanied with hush puppies and cold slaw. Dinner was excellent! All foods were fresh and delicious. It was a lovely dinner! We could see why reservations would be required. Luckily we went at an early! Wish we were staying another day as I would like to try their grilled snapper…. My loss!
Not only was the food the BEST (garlic shrimp and everything in between) but Jenni our server was one of the BEST, sweetest servers I've had in a long long time! I highly recommend the food and we really enjoyed Jennie!!
